We would like to congratulate one of our own sisters, Gugulethu Madonsela, who graduated with a Honour's Degree in Social Work from the University of North West Vaal Campus this past wednesday. We wish her great success in her future endveaours as a social batallion in the area of social develoment. We are proud of her amidst the turmoil we are facing in higher education and we empathise with all those who are fighting for a more inclusive and accesible higher education.

Financing Your Studies.

When planning to study further, it is very important to consider how you will fund your studies. When you enrol at an institution of further or higher learning, you are expected to pay for your studies. However, due to financial circumnstances many prospective students are not able to do so. Costs associated with post school include registration fees, tuition fees, accommodation, textbooks.

The South African government provides deserving candidates an opportunity to continue with their learning through the National Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS), which offers bursaries and loans to qualifying students. How it is apparent that NSFAS has not been able to cater for every qualifying student, therefore it is important to do research on other sources when seeking funding for your studies. NSFAS administers four bursary funds namely:
-The Fundza Lushaka Bursary Programme for teaching degrees
-Social Work Bursaries
-National Skills Fund for scarce skills
- and TVET College bursaries.

NB: Studying is about your future not someone else's, therefore the task of doing research all rests on your shoulders.
