🚨 WATER CRISIS AT SHONKWENI PRIMARY SCHOOL 🚨

For the past two weeks, Shonkweni Primary School has been without a reliable water supply. Despite numerous reports and follow-ups with the relevant authorities, our learners and staff continue to face this serious challenge.

The lack of water is affecting hygiene, sanitation, and the preparation of meals for our learners. We have requested assistance, including water tankers, but unfortunately no sustainable solution has yet been provided.

We appeal to all relevant stakeholders to urgently assist in resolving this matter. Access to clean water is a basic right and is essential for providing a safe and healthy learning environment.

We remain hopeful that our plea will receive the urgent attention it deserves.

Good morning.

My apologies for disturbing you so early this morning.

Please be informed that we currently have no water at school. There is a strong possibility that our kitchen staff may not be able to prepare meals today.

We have contacted Ugu Municipality to request a water tanker; however, we were informed that they currently do not have water available for distribution. They have indicated that they will consider our request once water becomes available.

In the meantime, where possible, please communicate with your learners and parents that learners should bring drinking water from home, as well as something to eat for the day.

That's the situation at Shonkweni Primary School. It's been two weeks now being in contact with the Municipality.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Kind regards,

Principal!
