The key points, to me, in the NGO's letter to the LME, is that due diligence should apply across all metals, and should include large scale mining as well as artisanal mining. While the attention on conflict financing from artisanal tin, tungsten, tantalite and gold mines in DRC, and on child labour in artisanal cobalt mines in DRC, is welcome, it doesn't mean that large scale miners found to have been associated with large-scale corruption (think Glencore's continued royalty payments to Dan Gertler)should get off scott-free.
