With deep sadness, we mourn the passing of Mr Jeffrey Wolf, a towering figure in Jewish education whose contributions in South Africa have touched generations.

Mr Wolf dedicated his life to education and to the development of young Jewish people. His influence extended far beyond the classroom, shaping educators, inspiring students, and helping build a strong foundation for Jewish education in our community.

At the Academy, we recognize the lasting impact of educators like Mr Wolf, whose commitment to learning, values, and the future of our community continues to inspire the work we do today. His legacy lives on in the generations of students and educators he influenced, and in the many lives enriched by his dedication.

We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing him.

May his memory be a blessing.

Meet Tamar Falkson

This Term 3, Tamar Falkson will guide learners through the first part of Crossroads in Jewish History, exploring the pivotal events and ideas that continue to shape who we are today.

Born and raised in Johannesburg, Tamar spent a year and a half studying in Israel before completing a BA in Jewish History and Land of Israel Studies at Bar-Ilan University. She has taught Jewish history for more than a decade in Johannesburg's religious high schools and regularly teaches adult audiences, bringing history to life with insight, depth and clarity.

For Tamar, history is far more than a timeline of events. It is the lens through which we understand why we live the way we do, how Jewish identity has been shaped across the centuries, and how the decisions made at key historical crossroads continue to influence our lives today.

Join Tamar for an engaging, thought-provoking journey through the moments that transformed Jewish history and forged the Jewish identity we know today.
