Our Grade 11 Chemistry learner have been exploring qualitative chemical analysis through a fascinating experiment involving iodine.

By gently heating a small amount of iodine, the substance changes into a vapour which rises within the beaker. A petri dish, cooled by a second beaker containing iced water, provides the perfect surface for the vapour to condense and form delicate iodine crystals.

These crystalline structures can then be examined under a microscope, giving learners a closer look at the remarkable processes that occur at the molecular level.
