𝐖𝐄𝐋𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐄 𝐓𝐎 𝐖𝐎𝐍𝐃𝐄𝐑 𝐖𝐎𝐑𝐋𝐃 | 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐫 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐋𝐢𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐫𝐲

There is something magical about watching a child disappear into a book.

Not because they have been told to read.
Not because they have to.
But because they want to!

That belief sits at the heart of our new 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐫 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐋𝐢𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐫𝐲 - 𝐚 𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐚𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐧 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐢𝐭.

From hidden reading nooks and cosy corners to imaginative spaces where stories come to life, every detail was created with one question in mind: "𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐚 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬?"

The result is far more than a library.
It is a place of curiosity, imagination, discovery and wonder.
A place where students can curl up with a favourite book, share stories with friends, lose themselves in new worlds and develop a lifelong love of reading.

While the building itself is beautiful, the best part has been watching it come alive!

Every day, the library is filled with children reading, exploring, imagining and making the space their own. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐧 𝐛𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐛𝐚𝐠𝐬, 𝐨𝐜𝐜𝐮𝐩𝐢𝐞𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐥𝐲 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐢𝐝𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐬𝐮𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬.

Because ultimately, this was never about creating a beautiful building.
It was about creating a place where imagination could flourish!

In a world increasingly dominated by screens, our Junior School Library reminds us that there is still nothing quite like the magic of turning a page and discovering where a story might take you next...

𝐆𝐑𝐀𝐃𝐄 𝟕 | 𝐏𝐇𝐄𝐍𝐎𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐎𝐍-𝐁𝐀𝐒𝐄𝐃 𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆

At Redhill, we believe some of the most meaningful learning happens when students are challenged to 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥-𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐟𝐢𝐭 𝐧𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐥𝐲 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐚 𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐞 𝐬𝐮𝐛𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭.

Recently, our Grade 7 students embarked on a phenomenon-based learning project investigating a simple but powerful question:

How does movement impact our physical health, mental wellbeing, and the spaces we create around us?

Their journey began with an exploration of movement in action, from our own Redhill ELC playground to experiences at Total Ninja and Modderfontein Bird and Sculpture Park. Through climbing, balancing, jumping and interactive play, students considered how movement influences energy, mood, connection and wellbeing.

Armed with these insights, students then explored the science behind movement before working collaboratively to design innovative outdoor equipment they would like to see on the Redhill school fields.

The project culminated in students building prototypes and presenting their ideas in pitch-style presentations, combining research, creativity, collaboration and persuasive communication.

What made this project particularly powerful was that students were not simply learning about movement - they were applying their understanding to solve a real-world design challenge.

From critical thinking and teamwork to innovation and public speaking, the project provided students with opportunities to develop the skills that matter most in an increasingly complex world.

And who knows? Some of these imaginative ideas may one day become a reality on our Redhill fields!

𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐃𝐄𝐒𝐄𝐑𝐓 𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 𝐇𝐀𝐒 𝐌𝐀𝐃𝐄 𝐈𝐓 𝐓𝐎 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐅𝐄𝐃𝐀 𝐒𝐄𝐌𝐈-𝐅𝐈𝐍𝐀𝐋𝐒!

Out of more than 60 productions entered into this year's Festival of Excellence in Dramatic Arts, RedDrama's The Desert Station has been selected to progress to the semi-finals this evening - an extraordinary achievement and a testament to the talent, commitment and courage of everyone involved.

From the very beginning, this production has challenged both its performers and its audience. Through movement, storytelling and powerful theatrical imagery, The Desert Station explores memory, identity and the enduring impact of history with maturity, sensitivity and remarkable artistic depth.

To have this work recognised amongst so many outstanding productions from across the country is something of which the entire cast, crew and creative team should be immensely proud!

But regardless of what happens tonight, the achievement is already significant.

You have created something meaningful.
You have told an important story.
You have represented Redhill with excellence, passion and integrity.

𝐍𝐨𝐰 𝐢𝐭'𝐬 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐩 𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞, 𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤, 𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐧𝐣𝐨𝐲 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐦𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭!

Eid al-Adha, known as the Festival of Sacrifice, is one of the most significant celebrations in the Islamic calendar. It commemorates the values of faith, devotion, generosity and compassion, and is a time for prayer, reflection and giving to those in need.

May this blessed occasion bring joy to your homes and many treasured moments with loved ones.

𝐖𝐄𝐋𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐄 𝐓𝐎 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐍𝐄𝐖 𝐀𝐑𝐓 & 𝐃𝐄𝐒𝐈𝐆𝐍 𝐐𝐔𝐀𝐑𝐓𝐄𝐑

At Redhill, we know that not every student finds their spark in the same place.

Some discover it on a sports field.
Some on a stage.
Some behind a microphone.
And some in a creative space with a sketchbook, sewing machine, paintbrush or design brief in front of them.

That belief sits at the heart of our 𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝-𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐀𝐫𝐭 & 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧 𝐐𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐫, situated alongside the Summit Precinct and designed specifically for the students who see the world through a creative lens.

Filled with natural light, purpose-built workspaces and specialist facilities for Art, Design and Technology, these spaces have been created to inspire curiosity, experimentation, imagination and innovation.

More than simply classrooms, they are places where ideas take shape, skills are developed and creative confidence can flourish!

Because at Redhill, the arts are not an "extra". They are an essential part of helping students discover who they are, what they love and how they want to contribute to the world around them.

We look forward to seeing the incredible work, ideas and creativity that will emerge from this exciting new chapter!

𝐀𝐅𝐑𝐈𝐂𝐀 𝐃𝐀𝐘 𝐑𝐄𝐂𝐀𝐏 | 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐫 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥

What a wonderful week we had last week - a time of learning, discovery and celebration in our Junior School as students explored the richness, diversity and stories of the African continent ahead of Africa Day.

Across the week, classrooms were transformed into vibrant spaces of curiosity and creativity. Students researched countries, explored traditions, created artwork and projects inspired by African cultures, learned through storytelling and poetry, and challenged themselves with traditional games such as Morabaraba.

From carefully constructed dioramas and biodiversity displays to handmade jewellery, African patterns and imaginative cultural projects, every grade engaged with Africa in age-appropriate and meaningful ways. The result was a week filled with conversation, exploration and a growing appreciation for the people, places and stories that shape our continent!

Yesterday's Africa Day celebrations brought all of that learning together. The school was alive with music, colour, creativity and pride as students shared their work and celebrated the incredible diversity that makes Africa so unique.

At Redhill, Africa Day is about more than a single celebration. It is an opportunity for students to deepen their understanding of the continent they call home, to learn from one another, and to recognise the creativity, resilience, innovation and possibility that can be found across Africa.

A very special week and a wonderful celebration of African identity, culture and belonging!

𝐇𝐀𝐏𝐏𝐘 𝐀𝐅𝐑𝐈𝐂𝐀 𝐃𝐀𝐘

At Redhill, we believe it is important for students to understand the WHY behind what they learn.

𝐒𝐨 𝐖𝐇𝐘 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐚 𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐝𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐚𝐧 𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐫𝐞 𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐀𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚 𝐃𝐚𝐲?

Because we believe that education is about more than what can be measured in a test, examination or report!

As a proudly South African school deeply rooted in Africa, we believe our students should understand the continent that has shaped them - its history, its diversity, its challenges, its achievements and its extraordinary potential.

Today, Africa Day will be experienced across our entire campus, from KG1 to Grade 12. Through age-appropriate activities, discussions, performances, workshops and guest speakers, students will engage with the stories, cultures, challenges and opportunities that shape our continent. While our older students participate in thought-provoking conversations with leading academics, entrepreneurs and changemakers, our younger students will explore Africa through storytelling, creativity, discovery and reflection.

Our theme for 2026 is: 𝐎𝐧𝐞 𝐏𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞. 𝐎𝐧𝐞 𝐏𝐮𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐞. 𝐎𝐧𝐞 𝐅𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞.

Because the future of Africa is not something that happens to us.
It is something that will be SHAPED by us.

Happy Africa Day from all of us at Redhill!

𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐌𝐀𝐘 𝐇𝐀𝐕𝐄 𝐒𝐄𝐄𝐍 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐒𝐔𝐌𝐌𝐈𝐓 𝐏𝐑𝐄𝐂𝐈𝐍𝐂𝐓. 𝐁𝐔𝐓 𝐇𝐀𝐕𝐄 𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐒𝐄𝐄𝐍 𝐖𝐇𝐀𝐓'𝐒 𝐁𝐄𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐃 𝐈𝐓?

While much of the attention has understandably been on our newly opened Summit Precinct, upgraded canteen and spectacular Summit Field, another exciting addition has quietly been taking shape just beyond the building.

𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝-𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐤𝐞𝐭𝐛𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐧𝐞𝐭𝐛𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧!

Basketball and netball are two of the busiest and fastest-growing sports at Redhill. From before-school practices to afternoon fixtures and weekend matches, our existing Outspan courts are rarely empty. These new facilities provide even more space for students to train, compete, develop their skills and enjoy being active.

The development includes two new courts, floodlighting for evening practices and matches, as well as dedicated change room facilities for both Redhill teams and visiting schools!

But what excites us most isn't the infrastructure.

𝐈𝐭'𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐧 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞.

The friendships formed during training sessions.
The confidence built through persistence and practice.
The moments of triumph, disappointment, resilience and growth that sport teaches so powerfully.
The students who will discover a passion, a talent, a team and a sense of belonging.

At Redhill, every new space is designed with one question in mind: How will this enrich the daily experience of our students?

We can't wait to see these courts come to life and memories being made here!

🎙️ 𝐖𝐄𝐋𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐄 𝐓𝐎 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐍𝐄𝐖 𝐇𝐎𝐌𝐄 𝐎𝐅 𝐑𝐄𝐃𝐑𝐀𝐃𝐈𝐎

What started as the passion project of former Redhill student 𝐓𝐡𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐬 𝐇𝐞𝐥𝐞 (Class of 2021) has grown into a platform where students can explore broadcasting, interviewing, storytelling, music and live event coverage - proving that some of the most valuable learning experiences can begin with a simple idea, can-do attitude, hours of hard work, and a microphone!

Five years after Thomas matriculated, the station he imagined and launched as a student continues to provide opportunities for others to step behind the microphone, find their voice and tell their stories. It is a legacy that lives on in every broadcast, every interview and every student who walks through the studio door.

Thomas has since turned that same passion into a career and can now be heard broadcasting and producing on 5FM every Saturday and Sunday from 04:00 - 07:00!

Over the years, RedRadio has become the soundtrack to many Redhill events and celebrations, giving students a voice and creating opportunities to develop confidence, creativity and communication skills.

Today, we are delighted to officially welcome the RedRadio team to their 𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝-𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐨 in the Summit Precinct, right next to the canteen and overlooking Summit Field.

With a new home and exciting plans ahead - including future streaming into the canteen - we look forward to seeing the next chapter of RedRadio unfold.

Tonight, RedDrama presents its second production at the FEDA (Festival of Excellence in Dramatic Arts):

“𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐃𝐄𝐒𝐄𝐑𝐓 𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍”

In a place where memory refuses to disappear, a generation searches for what healing might look like after remembrance. Through movement, music and fractured stories, The Desert Station explores how we carry the past and whether it is possible to move beyond it without forgetting.

Thought-provoking, evocative and deeply moving, this powerful production invites audiences to reflect on identity, memory and the enduring impact of history. Blending movement, storytelling and striking theatrical imagery, The Desert Station asks difficult questions while offering moments of hope, resilience and reflection!

We are incredibly proud of this cast and crew, whose commitment, creativity and willingness to engage with complex themes have shaped a production that is both ambitious and meaningful. Their dedication throughout the rehearsal process has been remarkable, and we cannot wait for audiences to experience their work this evening.

Wishing our students and staff the very best for tonight's performance. Break a leg!
