THANDULWAZI CAREERS DAY - Celebrating Careers, Community and 20 Years of Impact

This past weekend, Thandulwazi students, staff, volunteers and supporters came together for a very special Careers Day and 20th Birthday Celebration.

The day began with a moving Chapel service featuring a conversation between Johanni La Vita, who started the Saturday School Programme in 1989 with just 16 learners, and Dr Mary Reynolds, who has dedicated 37 years of service to St Stithians. Their reflections reminded us how a small act of faith and commitment can grow into something truly transformative.

From those first 16 learners, Thandulwazi has now supported more than 17,000 young people to improve their results in Mathematics, the Sciences, Accounting and English, opening doors to brighter futures and greater opportunities.

Following the service, everyone gathered on the field to celebrate 20 years of Thandulwazi as a formally established programme. Birthday cake, cupcakes and shared memories marked this important milestone, while students explored a wide range of career opportunities through the many inspiring exhibitors and professionals who generously shared their knowledge and advice.

A heartfelt thank you to all our exhibitors, guests, volunteers and supporters who helped make the day such a memorable success.

Here's to celebrating our past, embracing the present, and inspiring the future.

EXPLORING AUTUMN IN OUR JUNIOR PREP - Our little Grade RRR Saints discovering the changing environment together

This term, the Grade RRR’s focus has been on the changing environment as we explored signs of Autumn. The children noticed leaves changing colour, trees becoming bare, and the cooler weather setting in. One child thoughtfully observed, “When the wind blows, the leaves fall off and become cold,” showing how deeply they are connecting with the world around them.

Our provocation table featured a variety of items that highlighted the rich colours of Autumn, inspiring the children to create their own drawings in seasonal hues. Nature walks provided wonderful opportunities for discovery, with the children collecting leaves and acorns and even making “snow angels” in the crunchy leaf piles. Colour mixing became another highlight, as the children delighted in creating new shades inspired by Autumn and giving each one its own special name.

Through these experiences, the children not only explored the beauty of the changing season but also developed their creativity, curiosity, and observational skills. Autumn has truly been a season of wonder and learning in Grade RRR.

CELEBRATING OLD STITHIAN KAGISO RABADA'S HISTORIC IPL PURPLE CAP AWARD

Old Stithian and South African pacer Kagiso Rabada finished the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 as the leading wicket-taker, claiming the Purple Cap for the second time in his career.

By winning the Purple Cap, Kagiso has etched his name in the tournament's history by becoming only the fourth bowler to win the Purple Cap award multiple times. He joins an elite list of bowlers who have achieved the feat, including Dwayne Bravo (2013, 2015), Bhuvneshwar Kumar (2016, 2017), and Harshal Patel (2021, 2024).

We congratulate KG on his stellar 2026 IPL season with the Gujarat Titans (GT), taking 29 wickets in 17 matches at an economy rate of 9.68. His consistency with the ball throughout the tournament ensured he topped the charts, replicating his previous Purple Cap win in 2020 while playing for Delhi Capitals, when he had 30 wickets.

We celebrate and congratulate KG on this historic achievement.

ST STITHIANS BOYS' PREP HOUSE LEADERS 2026

Leadership is important at St Stithians Boys’ Prep because it helps shape our boys into responsible, confident, and respectful young men. Through leadership opportunities like being a house leader, students learn how to guide others, make good decisions, and take responsibility for their actions. Strong leadership also promotes teamwork, discipline, and a positive school culture, where students support one another and strive for excellence. By developing leadership skills early, Boys’ Prep prepares its students to become effective leaders in high school, their communities, and future careers.

It is with great pleasure that we introduce our Boys' Prep House Leaders for 2026. May they inspire excellence and make a world of difference in all that they do. Well done boys!
