So it is with mixed feelings we end our school year today. Relief because it is school holidays and the children and my amazing staff deserve a well earned rest after a very busy and productive year.
And then very emotional as I close our schools doors today after 30 years and 6 months serving our community on the North Coast of KZN.
In June 1992 I would have never imagined I would run a school for just over 30 years. I definitely would never have been able to do this without the support of the incredible ladies that have worked with me over all these years. Suraya Essack, you have supported me through thick and thin and we have been a team for 28 years. Thank you ๐ Our friendship will last forever.
Rita Carr, we worked together for 16 years and I treasure those years, as well as our ever lasting friendship. Celia Smit, you started with me right from the start and we also worked together, actually the four of us, for many years and we certainly had loads of fun and lots of good laughs. Kerry Wilson, you also were such a wonderful team member and we also had the privilege of having all three of your girls at our school for their pre-school years. Sharon Whitehead, you too were an integral team member through some of the toughest years , not only for you personally, but also for our school, especially post Covid. Christene Slabbert, you have run our Aftercare and shown these children how to be creative over so many years. Thank you.
Goodness, Bongi, Senzi, Fikile and Bongi, our wonderful assistants and friends. Thank you for all you did for us , parents and children over so many years. Without your hard work and input, we would not cope. Thank you ###
Grateful thanks also go to the many, many parents we have got to know and become friends with over the years. Parent support in a school is crucial and I am so grateful that we have had that in spadefuls through our schoolโs journey.
And of course the many, many children who we have had the privilege to teach. We have encouraged and coerced you, laughed with you, given you life skills and tools for learning, but most of all have loved you. You make our work so rewarding when we watch you grow and flourish and reach your full potential. Thank you for the lessons we have learnt from you in turn, humbleness, wonder and awe and witnessing your excitement when you achieve something you thought you could not do. All these precious moments make our jobs as educators so worthwhile. Thank you ๐ .
So for me, a chapter ends, a door closes but on the other side, doors open and there are new beginnings . . .
Namaste ๐
