So it is with mixed feelings we end our school year today. Relief because it is school holidays and the children and my amazing staff deserve a well earned rest after a very busy and productive year.
And then very emotional as I close our schools doors today after 30 years and 6 months serving our community on the North Coast of KZN.
In June 1992 I would have never imagined I would run a school for just over 30 years. I definitely would never have been able to do this without the support of the incredible ladies that have worked with me over all these years. Suraya Essack, you have supported me through thick and thin and we have been a team for 28 years. Thank you ๐Ÿ™ Our friendship will last forever.
Rita Carr, we worked together for 16 years and I treasure those years, as well as our ever lasting friendship. Celia Smit, you started with me right from the start and we also worked together, actually the four of us, for many years and we certainly had loads of fun and lots of good laughs. Kerry Wilson, you also were such a wonderful team member and we also had the privilege of having all three of your girls at our school for their pre-school years. Sharon Whitehead, you too were an integral team member through some of the toughest years , not only for you personally, but also for our school, especially post Covid. Christene Slabbert, you have run our Aftercare and shown these children how to be creative over so many years. Thank you.
Goodness, Bongi, Senzi, Fikile and Bongi, our wonderful assistants and friends. Thank you for all you did for us , parents and children over so many years. Without your hard work and input, we would not cope. Thank you ###
Grateful thanks also go to the many, many parents we have got to know and become friends with over the years. Parent support in a school is crucial and I am so grateful that we have had that in spadefuls through our schoolโ€™s journey.
And of course the many, many children who we have had the privilege to teach. We have encouraged and coerced you, laughed with you, given you life skills and tools for learning, but most of all have loved you. You make our work so rewarding when we watch you grow and flourish and reach your full potential. Thank you for the lessons we have learnt from you in turn, humbleness, wonder and awe and witnessing your excitement when you achieve something you thought you could not do. All these precious moments make our jobs as educators so worthwhile. Thank you ๐Ÿ˜Š .
So for me, a chapter ends, a door closes but on the other side, doors open and there are new beginnings . . .

Our children have been busy the last few weeks making these special bracelets for Anti-poaching as a fund raiser in remembrance of Maria Montessoriโ€™s birthday on 31st August and celebrating a few important World days, I.e. International Peace Day, World Rhino Day and Heritage Day.
We combined our Peace sign with the colours of the South African Flag ๐Ÿ‡ฟ๐Ÿ‡ฆ as a symbol of Peace, not only for our country, but for the whole world.
The children have enjoyed learning about all these important events.

We are so excited to let you know that we have confirmed the โ€˜OPEN MORNINGโ€™ dates for the new Montessori school in Ballito.

Not my words or photos . . .

When you first have children they talk about the challenges of parenting....the struggles of a baby waking in the night,
the toddler who wonโ€™t stay in their bed, the cost of childcare, injuries from sports...
๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’›
Having to take off work to pick them up from school when they donโ€™t feel well, helping them with homework, a messy house, the never ending laundry, the cost to buy school clothes, packing their lunches....
๐Ÿซ๐Ÿซ
You watch their eyes light up on Christmas morning....and try to soak in the magic of those moments.
๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’›
You coach them in sports, rushing to practices and ballgames...and tote them all over the country to let them play the game they love...no matter how exhausting or expensive it becomes.
๐Ÿซ๐Ÿซ
Life is just so busy that you rarely even stop to think what the end of those days look like.
๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’›
In fact, itโ€™s not really even something you can wrap your mind around.
๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜
You go into it thinking that 18-20 years sounds like a long time....
๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ™„
Then suddenly hours turn into days...days into months...and months into years.
๐Ÿซ๐Ÿซ
That little person that used to crawl up next to you in bed and cuddle up to watch cartoons...suddenly becomes this young adult who hugs you in the hallway as they come and go.
๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—
And the chaos and laughter that used to echo throughout your home....gets filled with silence and solitude.
๐Ÿ”‡๐Ÿ”‡
Youโ€™ve learned how to parent a child who needs you to care for and protect them....but have no clue how the whole โ€œletting goโ€ thing is supposed to work.
๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’›
So you hold on as tight as you can...wondering how time passed so quickly...feeling guilty that you missed something....
๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—
Because even though you had 20 years.....it just somehow doesnโ€™t seem like it was enough.
๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’›
You ask yourself so many questions...
๐Ÿค”๐Ÿค”
Did you teach them the right lessons?
Did you read them enough books as a child?
Spend enough time playing with them?
How many school parties did you have to miss?
Do they really know how much you love them?
What could I have done better as a parent?
๐Ÿค”๐Ÿค”
When itโ€™s time for them to go, it all hits you like a ton of bricks.
๐Ÿซ๐Ÿซ
And all you can do is pray....hope....and trust that God will protect them as they start to make their way into the world alone.
๐ŸŒ๐ŸŒ
Parenting is by far the most amazing experience of your life....that at times leaves you exhilarated....while others leave you heartbroken.
๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’”
But one thing is certain.....itโ€™s never enough time...๐Ÿ’•
โŒšโŒš
So for all the parents with young children...whose days are spent trying to figure out how to make it through the madness...
Exhausted day in and day out...
๐Ÿ˜ฉ๐Ÿ˜ฉ
Soak. It. All. In.
๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’›
Because one day....all those crazy days full of cartoons, snuggles, sleep overs, Christmas morning magic, ballgames, practices and late night dinners...
๐ŸŽ„๐ŸŽ„
All come to an end.
๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’”
And youโ€™re left hoping that you did enough right, so that when they spread their wings....
๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿฆ
Theyโ€™ll fly...๐Ÿฆ‹๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿฆ‹

We encourage you to take the time to visit our truly amazing school, where you will enjoy a personal tour, given an opportunity to ask questions, meet with the Staff, see the students and visit the different Montessori learning areas. In this way, we trust that you will be well informed in making the best possible decision for your child.
When your child starts with us, we will do our best to ensure the transition is as seamless as possible and ensure that your child feels loved, respected and safe.
A Montessori learning environment is like no other โ€ฆ our main objective at Ballito Bay Montessori Pre- School is to provide a carefully planned, stimulating environment which will help children to develop within themselves the foundational habits, attitudes, skills and ideas essential for a lifetime of creative thinking and learning. Respect and courtesy in our Montessori school is the foundation for everything we do.
Each child will feel empowered at Ballito Bay Montessori and learn how great it feels to do things on his / her own! Each Montessori Directress (teacher) is here to nurture, support and guide them each and every day and we are committed to making your childโ€™s Montessori preschool experience productive, stimulating and fun!
Through the materials in a Montessori environment, the child is placed at the centre of learning, exploration and discovery. The structure of our classroom encourages children to work together, share and learn from one another. This assists and teaches children to become self-disciplined, respectful and have a sense of team spirit.
Our work cycle and prepared environment also refines concentration, self-control and motivation. Research has revealed that millions of children around the world have benefited with a solid, independent learning foundation through Dr Maria Montessoriโ€™s philosophy and method since she opened her first school in 1907.
We will be honoured if you choose our school and we, at Ballito Bay Montessori, are confident that this will be the best foundation for your childโ€™s educational journey. With our small classes and individual attention, Ballito Bay Montessori is your childโ€™s home away from home.
