Leema Primary School was well represented.

A new generation of aspiring scientists converged in the Bojanala Region to present their innovative research projects at the highly anticipated Eskom Expo for Young Scientists regional final.

A notable turnout of 386 learners in grades 4 to 12 from the region gathered to present their research projects at the event held at the Rutanang Education Centre in Rustenburg on 28 July 2023. The evaluation of the 296 projects on display was carried out by 31 judges, comprising educators, specialists, scholars, and avid Eskom Expo supporters.

This regional expo was one of 38 regional science fairs planned across all provinces in South Africa. This year witnessed an impressive influx of entries in the Engineering category, with 95 innovative projects submitted. Furthermore, notable participation was observed in categories such as Energy, Earth Sciences and Social Sciences.

Eskom Expo Bojanala Regional Science Fair Director, Morapedi Bodigelo, said: “The majority of schools that attended our workshops throughout the year, followed through on their commitment to enter learners into the regional science fair, resulting in a remarkable participation of more than 45 schools this year.
