The Mandelaville Crisis Committee (MCC) was established in 2002 and officially registered as a non-profit organization in 2004.
The Mandelaville Crisis Committee (MCC) is non-profit organization with that primarily focuses on community development through collaboration with civil society organizations, government entities, and other community-oriented institutions. Our primary mission is community development, and we collaborate closely with civil society organizations, government entities, and other community-oriented ins
titutions. The organization originated as the Mandelaville Community Forum, formed after the community faced eviction from the Diepkloof informal settlement and relocated to Sol-Plaatjie, also known as Durban Deep. Over the years, we have partnered with various civil organizations, including the Centre for Applied Legal Studies (CALS) at WITS. CALS played a crucial role in securing decent housing for our community through a successful court case in 2005. Additionally, the Department of Health provided initial funding in 2010 to establish and run support groups for people living with HIV (PLWA). Our needs analysis highlighted neglected areas such as information sharing and skill development, prompting us to engage with the Department of Social Development. Currently, we serve the communities of Sol-Plaatjie, Durban Deep, Creswell Park, and parts of Braamfischerville (phases 3 and 4), as well as Matholeville and Leratong. Vision

Alleviating Poverty: We work across all spheres of life to alleviate poverty. Community Enhancement: Our efforts focus on improving the lives of the communities we serve. Information and Campaigns: We provide essential information and run awareness campaigns. HIV/AIDS Advocacy: We actively combat HIV/AIDS through education and support. Youth Development and Recreation: We promote youth development and recreational activities. Community Initiatives: We initiate projects within our communities. Paralegal Services and Referral: We offer paralegal advice and referrals. Advocacy for Gender Violence-Free Communities: We advocate for safe and violence-free communities. Skills development: Painting, carpentry, Basic Computer training, Security training E.C.D, Boilermaker, driver’s licence and Agriculture. Conclusion
