Parent Education: Holiday Season!😁

As we will soon head off on holidays and spend more time around pools, beaches and other bodies of water, it’s the perfect time for a little water-safety reminder. 🩵

Before the kids jump in…

🐳- Check the pool area
Look for potential hazards and make sure the water is secure.

🐳- Check the barriers & gates
Make sure children cannot easily access the water without an adult.

🐳- Assign a Water Watcher 👀
Have a designated adult provide close, constant and capable supervision.

🐳- Know your child’s water skills 🏊‍♀️
Make sure their swimming ability matches the environment they’re in.

🐳- Pack the right safety equipment 🛟
For open water or boating activities, use an appropriate, properly fitted life jacket.

🐳- Be emergency-ready 📱
Know your location, keep a phone nearby and make sure adults know what to do in an emergency.

Did you know that people have been swimming for thousands of years? From ancient civilizations using swimming for survival and fitness, to the competitive sport we know today, swimming has always been an important life skill! 🌊

But no matter how much swimming has changed, one thing has always stayed the same — water safety matters! 🛟

✨ Remember:
💧 Never swim alone.
👀 Always have a responsible adult watching young children around water.
🛟 Use the correct safety equipment when needed.
🏊 Learn proper swimming skills and know your limits.
🚫 Never assume someone is safe just because they can swim.

Swimming is fun, swimming is healthy, and swimming is a life skill — but always make safety your first priority! ❤️

🚨 What colour is your child’s swimsuit? It matters more than you think. 🚨

When a child goes underwater unexpectedly, every second counts.

Bright, high-visibility colours can make it much easier to spot a swimmer beneath the surface; pastel and light colours can quickly blend into the water, shadows and pool surroundings.

The right colour swimsuit is not a replacement for supervision, swimming lessons or water safety practices, but it can be one more layer of protection that helps make a child more visible in and around the water.
