Some of the most meaningful moments of learning happen between lessons.

One of our regular visitors at Cape Winelands International School is this magnificent bird of prey, which often roosts quietly in the trees overlooking our campus. It has become a reminder to slow down, look up, and notice the world around us.

Throughout the school day, our students are given frequent opportunities to step outside between classes. These short movement breaks are far more than just "time out." They allow children to reset, regulate their nervous systems, move their bodies, connect with friends, and spend time in nature before returning to focused learning.

Research consistently shows that time outdoors supports attention, emotional regulation, creativity, and overall wellbeing. Sometimes all it takes is a few minutes of fresh air, birdsong, and open space to help a child return to the classroom feeling calm, connected, and ready to learn.

At CWIS, we believe that education is about more than what happens at a desk. Curiosity, wellbeing, and a connection with the natural world are part of the learning journey every day.

It has been a busy and exciting start to Term 3 at Cape Winelands International School!

This week we were delighted to welcome three new high school students to our growing school community. They have already settled in beautifully and are becoming part of the CWIS family.

Of course, learning isn't only about the classroom. We kicked off the term with an energetic game of Capture the Flag — with plenty of dancing thrown in along the way! It was a wonderful opportunity for students to connect, laugh and build friendships.

Our high school students also attended a Careers Fair, where they explored future study and career opportunities by engaging with universities, businesses and organisations in the social development sector. Experiences like these help our learners make informed choices and see the many possibilities that lie ahead.

We're looking forward to another term of curiosity, growth and meaningful learning together.

There has been plenty happening behind the scenes at Cape Winelands International School! ✨

While our learners have been enjoying a well-deserved holiday, our incredible teachers, staff and dedicated parent volunteers have been hard at work preparing the school for an exciting new term.

From giving our learning spaces a refresh and tackling maintenance projects to creating a brand-new Welcome Zone where children can play, connect and settle before heading off to their classrooms, every improvement has been made with our learners in mind.

These upgrades reflect what makes CWIS so special: a community of passionate people who willingly give of their time, energy and talents to create a nurturing, joyful environment where children can thrive.

A heartfelt thank you to every teacher, parent and volunteer who has spent part of their holiday helping to prepare our school. Your generosity and dedication do not go unnoticed.

We can't wait to welcome all our learners and families back for another wonderful term of learning, growth and discovery. See you soon!
