I recently came across this video of the violinist Nicola Benedetti speaking about finding inspiration and keeping herself motivated as a musician. I found it inspiring just to watch!
If you are feeling a little stagnant in your musical development, or if you are working on a piece and you're feeling a bit lost on how to tackle it, perhaps you will benefit from watching this video too. It's only 11 minutes long. Enjoy!
"With Nicky" - Inspiration
Growing up, two of my dad’s favourite words were ‘Motivation’ and ‘Inspiration’. When my sister and I were little that basically went right over our heads, b...

I've been quiet on my violin page for a long time, so this is just a post to say I'm still here, I'm still teaching violin and playing at events from time to time. I have a wonderful group of students for 2024 and don't have space for any new students at the moment (what a great problem to have :) ).
I was so happy to hear that a new student who started lessons this week was showing everything she has learned so far to her family - I love teaching students who are excited about learning the violin!
A number of my students are preparing to enter for Trinity violin exams this year, so their motivation is high and I am seeing them progress well. I am so looking forward to the rest of the year and seeing them grow. 🎼🎻😃

We are in the swing of violin lessons already, and it's great to be back at it! 😃
I hope everyone else is settling into their new routines for the year, and that this will be a blessed year for us all. 😊
Wonderful news - my lesson slots are fully booked for the term! 😃 It's good to be busy when we're busy doing what we love. For me, that's passing on my love for playing the violin to others, and teaching them how to play with skill and passion. 😊

Have a great holiday, everyone! It's been a full and fun year of music, and it's time we all had a good break. 😊

I'm taking bookings for new violin students for 2020. 🎉😎🎻
I have limited space, so please contact me ASAP if you'd like to book a space for your child. We'll begin lessons when schools go back in January, but I'll need to size your child up in December so you can organise a violin for them before the first term begins. 👍🎵😊 Looking forward to hearing from you.
Please note - learning to play the violin takes time and a lot of commitment. Please plan to sign up for a whole year of lessons. After the first year you and your child will be in a much better position to decide whether to continue learning the violin, or whether to try out a different instrument. 👌
