Real life applications of Number Patterns

Number patterns show up everywhere once you start looking. They’re just predictable sequences that let us model, predict, and optimize things in the real world.

1. Finance & Economics

a) Compound interest follows a geometric pattern A = P(1+r)^n. Simple interest follows an arithmetic (a linear) pattern. Banks, pensions, and investments all rely on it.

b) Inflation & GDP trends: Governments fit time series data to arithmetic/geometric patterns to forecast.

2. Technology & Computing

a) Binary pattern 1, 2, 4, 8, 16...: Powers all digital systems. Every byte, IP address, and memory allocation uses powers of 2.

b) Error detection: ISBN, credit card numbers use checksum patterns like Luhn algorithm to catch typos.

3. Everyday Life

a) Calendars & time: Days, weeks, months, leap years are modular arithmetic patterns. Your phone’s calendar uses mod 7 for days of the week.

b) Barcodes & QR codes use binary and repeating patterns to encode data.

c) Music: Musical scales are based on frequency ratios. The 12-tone scale uses a geometric pattern where each note is 2^(1/12) times the previous.

d) Scheduling: Bus timetables, shift patterns, and sports fixtures use arithmetic sequences and modular patterns.

In a nutshell, number patterns let us compress information, make predictions, and build systems that scale. If you see repetition or a rule, you can automate it.

It is worth noting that more than 60% of breakthroughs to criminal cases was a result of studying specific individual patterns
