🎭 Queenstown Eisteddfod

Our talented Grade 1–7 Drama learners had the opportunity to perform at the Queenstown Eisteddfod!

It was wonderful to see our learners take to the stage, showcase their talent and perform with confidence. Each learner put in so much effort and preparation, and we are incredibly proud of them!

To see these learners perform, together with our Foundation Phase and Senior Choirs and our talented pianists, join us for our Stepping Stone Junior School Eisteddfod Concert on Thursday, 27 August 2026. 🎶🎭

💧 Our Theme of the Week: WATER! 💧

Our “Water” theme was certainly an interesting one! Our learners explored the different ways we use water in our everyday lives and discovered just how important this precious resource is.

The highlight was our water and salt experiment! 🧂💧 The learners observed how, over time, salt crystals began to form on a thread as the water evaporated from the salt-water solution. 🧪✨

It was wonderful to see their curiosity, excitement and amazement as they watched science happen right before their eyes! 🔬

Learning is always more exciting when we can see it, touch it and experience it! 💙💧

Our Grade R learners truly dressed to impress for our Career/Occupations Day! 👩‍⚕️👨‍⚖️👮‍♂️👷‍♀️✈️👨‍🍳📊

We had future healthcare workers, law enforcement officers, a judge, construction workers, a shipmaster, an air hostess, chefs and an accountant — and even three teachers joined in the fun!

It was wonderful to see our little ones proudly representing different careers and learning about the exciting world of work.

A special thank you to our Chef for the day, Mr Mlanjana, for giving our learners such an interesting and delicious demonstration on how to make easy flapjacks! 🥞😋

Needless to say… the flapjacks were a HIT! 😁

What a fun and memorable day filled with learning, imagination and lots of smiles! 🌟

On Monday, 17 August 2026, we held our exciting raffle draw in support of our upcoming Stulting Sport Tour!

🚀 SSJS MAKES ITS MARK AT ESKOM EXPO! 🔬🏆

On Saturday, 15 August, our Grade 7 learners travelled to East London to represent Stepping Stone Junior School at the Eskom Provincial Expo. 🔬✨

After an incredible journey that started with 700 schools at District level, only 90 schools progressed to the Provincial stage.

And what an achievement! 🏆

Zamangcengane Sibeko & Inam Xhego won GOLD medals!
Chule Pikashe & Sibabalwe Qetuka won SILVER medals!

The Gold, Silver and Bronze medals were awarded according to the percentage results achieved by learners for their projects.

But there was even more to celebrate! 🎉

In the Best Project in the Primary Schools category, the top three projects were awarded 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.

🏆 Zamangcengane Sibeko & Inam Xhego achieved an outstanding 2nd Place among the Top 3 Primary School Projects!

We are so proud of our learners for representing Stepping Stone with such excellence and for achieving outstanding results at provincial level.

Grade 6 Learners Learn About Electricity Safety

Our Grade 6 learners had an educational and insightful visit from Eskom officials, who spoke to them about electricity safety and the dangers of illegal connections.

The session was incredibly informative, and our learners couldn’t stop asking questions! Their prior knowledge of the topic made the discussion even more engaging and meaningful.

Electricity safety and illegal connections form part of their Natural Sciences and Technology curriculum this term. Having professionals explain concepts from their textbook and share real-life experiences brought the learning to life. ⚡

The visit also sparked an interest in Electrical Engineering as a possible career, showing our learners how the knowledge they gain in the classroom can connect to exciting career opportunities in the real world.

A huge thank you to the Eskom officials for taking the time to visit our school and for sharing such valuable information with our learners. We truly appreciate the opportunity and every bit of knowledge shared with us! 💙⚡

🔥 Learning Beyond the Classroom! 🚒.

Today, our Grade 5 learners had an exciting and educational visit to the Komani Fire Station!

They learnt so much about fire safety, firefighting equipment, fire prevention and the important work firefighters do to keep our community safe. 👩‍🚒🧯

What made the visit even more meaningful was how closely it connected to the Natural Sciences topic they are currently learning. Seeing these concepts come to life through a real-life experience helped our learners better understand and apply what they have been taught in the classroom.

A big thank you to the Komani Fire Station for welcoming our learners and giving them such a valuable learning experience!

This morning, we had the privilege of welcoming two social workers and an NPA Coordinator from Komani Thuthuzela Care Centre to our school.

Our Grades R–7 learners participated in an important, age-appropriate session on sexual abuse awareness, personal safety, speaking up, and knowing where to seek help. 🛡️💙

It was wonderful to see our learners so engaged throughout the session. They listened attentively, participated actively, and asked thoughtful questions.

A heartfelt thank you to the team from Komani Thuthuzela Care Centre for taking the time to educate, support and empower our learners. Your work plays an important role in helping keep our children informed, aware and safe.

Together, we can help create a safer environment where every child feels protected, heard and empowered to speak up. 💙
