Today the Step by Step kiddies came across a Teddy Bears picnic! They were invited to join in the fun!

This Mandela Day we gratefully acknowledge everyone who contributes to Step by Step Day care centre 🫶

This Mandela Day we received knitted blankets and teddies! Beautiful beanies! Also toys and a food parcel with some special treats!

7 weeks to go till we close for the December Holidays! Our much anticipated "Graduation" and "Year End Celebrations" are happening next month.

During the first half of the year 3 yr old Amzolele jumped off a swing and broke his leg and our dear cook passed away after a short battle with cancer.

Thereafter, everything has gone smoothly and our 5 year olds are well prepared and ready to move on to Grade R and "big" school.

We are thankful for the small subsidy which we get from the Department of Education. However this only covers meals and stationary for 25 children (we have 40 children enrolled, aged from 1 yr to 5 yrs) and a basic salary for 1 teacher and 1 cook.
We raise monetary funds to cover a teachers assistant, maintenance of the building, playground equipment and grass cutting.

So grateful to The Stretch Foundation and the Rayne family who give us a monthly donation. And the other individuals who give donations or visit and bring toys, books, groceries, clothes etc
These donations are an integral part in the success of Step by Step Day Care Centre and we are so very grateful!

💛 URGENT SUPPORT NEEDED 💛

On 26 March, one of the little ones from our registered NPO (PBO) creche in rural Transkei, "Step by Step Day Care Centre," broke his femur while playing.

He’s just 3,5 years old, and is now bedridden in traction for 4 weeks at Frere Hospital. His mom rushed with him to East London, with nothing but the clothes on her back. She’s been at his bedside since and will stay there for the next 4 weeks.

We’re rallying to support this brave little boy and his mother with essentials during this time, and also assist their creche community, including our cook, who was also just admitted to Frere and diagnosed with cancer this week.
