Its election day today. 22 years ago south Africans could not dream of participating in any form of elections but through struggle and sacrifice today we go cast our votes. Be responsible, be tolerant of other political parties and do not cause undue disturbances while casting your votes. Enjoy the day and may the best party win

On this fateful day more than 40 years ago thousands of youth stood up and protested against the use of Afrikaans as a medium of instruction in predominantly black populated schools and the availability of good quality infrastructure for teaching and learning to take place. Today we pay tribute and honour the sacrifices made by the youth of 1976. Today we're fortunate to speak, read and write English and our mother tongues with great proficiency because of the bravery of the men and women who fought the draconian laws of the apartheid regime. Happy freedom to all the youth Saapam members and all the youth in South Africa... (Derick S Nkosi Chairman and President of Saapam TUT Soshanguve South Campus)
