Your Portfolio of Evidence (PoE) is a collection of proof — assignments, observations, and records from your own practical work — that shows you can actually do what the qualification says you can do. It's not extra paperwork on top of your studies; it's one of the core pieces being assessed, alongside your Formative and Summative Assessments, ahead of your EISA exam.

A strong PoE takes time to build properly, which is why it's worth checking now where yours stands against your exam date — not the week before.

You've heard about QCTO accreditation — but there's another body involved in the ECD Practitioner NQF Level 4: ETDP SETA, the Education, Training and Development Practices Sector Education and Training Authority.

ETDP SETA works alongside the QCTO in the quality assurance process, supporting the development and oversight of qualifications in the education and training sector — including ECD. Together, these bodies make sure the qualification stays aligned with national standards from start to finish.

You don't need to memorise the structure behind it. What matters is this: your ECD Practitioner NQF Level 4 has been checked and signed off by more than one national body, so the certificate you walk away with holds up wherever you need it to."

It's not about paperwork — it's about the physical space itself. Inspectors look at things like child-to-caregiver ratios, hygiene and sanitation, and safe, adequate space per child.

For example: DSD guidelines recommend one caregiver to six infants, one to eight toddlers, and one to twenty children aged three to five.

These standards exist for one reason — to keep children safe in the space they spend their day in.
