Advanced Fashion Course The advanced fashion course is for Fashion students that have already completed 1 to 4 years of fashion studies and wish to master specialist skills.

Fashion students are under enormous pressure to learn a vast amount of skills in a very short time while studying. Even after completing a 4-year degree most students haven’t learned all the necessary skills to compete with the local and overseas market. This is not necessarily the fault of the schools but rather time constraints and full classrooms play a role. The time allotted for sewing classes is just not enough to learn more advanced sewing techniques that require time, passion and patience to master. Many overseas critics have commented that South African designers lack the necessary skills in the construction of garments. Moreover, in the South African employment sector there is a large demand for skilled labour in all manufacturing industries. In a world of mass production, the only way Fashion designers can make their product stand out from the rest is through exquisite craftsmanship. A student can only go so far with a brilliant idea, if they cannot construct a garment properly the design remains useless. This course is tailored to teach students specialist sewing skills that will enable them to produce unique products of the best quality.
