We are all aware of what’s happening to our farms in South Africa. Vacant farmland and jobless farmers are a serious imbalance that may be remedied with the right tools and people in place to encourage change. The world is at a crossroads, with hunger on the rise. Costs are becoming unaffordable for the poor due to inflation.
There is a startup company that is aiming to solve the issue. This project aims to provide farmers with access to farmland as well as trained and unskilled labor.
However, people are selling their capable farmlands that could be generating food and not utilising the land because of Covid's fear-based economy. The land has been bare for months, causing thousands of people to go hungry as a result of the property being on the market.
Here's what they are doing about it: FarmCollab sends professionals to a place to grow crops in order to keep the land healthy and feed the population, utilizing their contacts and knowledge. For each piece of land they obtain, they would be able to employ 1-5 people. Employees will receive training. They have experts on hand to help, and new jobs will be created. They can create more jobs if we expand our geographic reach.
This is an amazing cause!
If you want to become a part of it, they will be launching a fundraiser to start this project and every little bit helps.
There is hope for our farmers, let’s stand together and restore our community, feed the community, and give more opportunities to enable this.
