PHOTOGRAPHIC AND WILDLIFE SOCIETY COLAB 🇭🇺

The Photographic Society and the Wildlife Society joined forces for a heartwarming initiative at Wollies Animal Shelter this past Saturday.

They walked and played with the animals, bringing joy and companionship to the furry residents ❤️

The Photographic Society has also pledged to create a special photographic calendar featuring the adorable animals of Wollies, with all profits from calendar sales going directly to support the shelter's mission 🐾🐾

On Sunday, the 5th of May, the Pretoria Boys High Prefects spent a gorgeous, sunny day at Daybreak House for Babies.

They assisted in feeding the babies their lunch and spent the afternoon playing and entertaining the very busy little bunch. The boys also got dirty, planting flowers with their mini-sidekicks, to continue the project of beautifying the house.

At the Wally Hayward Race today, more than 30 Boys High teachers ran the 5km, 10km, or 21km races in support of Lemon Tree Kids!

SCIENCE PRACTICAL ENRICHMENT DAY👨‍🔬🔬

Today, our Form Is rotated between six Science stations within the school, where they had the opportunity to learn more about certain topics within the field of Science.

Different practical activities and models were used to teach the boys about Aeronautics, Transpiration, Sound & Light, the Lungs, Atomic Structures, and Acids & Bases.

HISTORY EXCURSION🎖️

The Form IIs went to the South African National Museum of Military History in Johannesburg. They were immersed in displays of light and heavy artillery as well as beautiful displays of several aircraft throughout the decades.

A great day was had by all!

PBHS SPELLING BEE 🇭🇺

This past Friday, Pretoria Boys High School hosted its annual Spelling Bee competition. The competition is geared towards our Primary School friends.

We enjoyed hosting participants from Brooklyn Primary, Arcadia Primary as well as Anton van Wouw. An afternoon of competitiveness, learning but most importantly, fun was had by all.

We congratulate the winners of the Spelling Bee competition and look forward to hosting again in the future.

On the 19th of April, we formally opened a beautiful new addition to our school, The Amphitheatre, on the east side of Poly Shorts. Thank you so much to several parties who contributed to its inauguration.

🇭🇺 Mr Thembelani Moyo, an Old Boy, and incredible supporter of Boys High, who started this endeavor with his passionate vision.

🇭🇺 The extremely hard-working parents of the Parents' Association! A special mention goes to finance guru, Mr van Zyl and to Mr Gus Rosa and Mrs Severn Schutte who headed up the PA during the period in which the funds for this project were collected.

🇭🇺 Mr Rickus Swart from Selepe Projects whom we contracted to undertake this project as well as Mr Thomas Eales, the builder who was sub-contracted by Selepe Projects.

🇭🇺 Last, but not least, Ms Natalie Brett for overseeing the construction from the school's side and liaising with the relevant parties.

This will long be enjoyed by the boys, parents and visitors. A stunning addition to our school!

PBHS STAFF RUN FOR LIVES

A group of 34 brave and dedicated teachers have committed to running the Wally Hayward race in order to raise funds for children with osteosarcoma. This is part of our Sport For Lives campaign 🇭🇺

We are aiming to raise R30 000 for these kids in need. Please consider making a once-off pledge so that we can reach our goal. So far, several generous souls have contributed a total of R5,490.00 - thank you so much! ❤️🤍💚

Fujifilm hosted a workshop at the Photographic Society of Pretoria Boys High School last Friday, featuring Nathalie Boucry, a professional photographer and Fuji-film ambassador.

During the event, Boucry provided valuable insights into composition and the art of capturing the perfect photo. She shared an in-camera technique aimed at reducing post-production time, empowering students with efficient methods for achieving their photographic goals.

Good day Mr Hassenkamp and the Chairman of the Old Boys Association,

I would like to write in my personal capacity and express my appreciation of the wonderful experience I had this past weekend during the PBHS exchange to Maritzburg College. I have been involved in the College community for a number of years as a parent, Old Boy, Executive Committee member of the Old Boys Association, a rugby referee and a spectator. I have been privileged to participate in a number of these exchanges both home and away, including hosting visiting players. Every single one of them have been a wonderful experience, from the boys, the staff/coaches and the parents and Old Boys. Your learners are well behaved, have excellent manners and are wonderful examples of the men we need in our country in the future. I know that Maritzburg College shares a similar culture and I am sure this is the reason that the exchange is always so memorable and there is such a great synergy at these fixtures from the U14F all the way to the 1st XV and across all codes.

I'd like to thank you and your entire team for the wonderful leadership and values you impart into these gentlemen and future leaders of our country. We need more of this in the country and having had the pleasure of reffing a few of these young men, even in the heat of battle, they remain true to themselves and their core values. I look forward to this fixture annually and appreciate the camaraderie and wonderful sportsmanship both on and off the field of the men from both schools.

Thank you to you Mr Hassenkamp and to you Mr Luman for the tremendous task you do to raise the future generations of leaders of our country. I am heartened that this is the caliber of the future and trust that their impact will be significant into the future - as we have seen with the alumni of both our schools and the impact that they have made already in the past decades.

Long may this exchange and tradition continue.

This past Friday the Head and Deputy Head Prefects from Affies Meisies, Pretoria High School for Girls and Boys High met to exchange ideas on various topics such as leadership, mentorship, and value systems that each school embraces.
