Hey TUTzens!

At the 2026 World Intellectual Property Day celebration, Heili Potgieter and Rual Grobler, Associates at Spoor and Fisher Attorneys, delivered a keynote address on the importance of intellectual property.

They highlighted that, while the sports industry is one of the biggest industries globally, it is unfortunately not always seen or thought of as a business.

Rual and Heili spoke to the audience about trademarks, copyright, and patents, and how to safeguard brand identity in clothing, logo designs, inventions, and other creative expressions within the sports industry. They concluded by saying that sport is no longer just for entertainment, it can be protected and monetised.
