Afrikaans Week at Maragon Mooikloof!

Our students enjoyed a week of language, culture and interactive learning through music, reading, assessments and traditional games. We also welcomed guests from K+M Books who introduced exciting new IEB Afrikaans books for 2027, before ending the week with a memorable performance by Keith Juluka!

Our Matric Hospitality students have officially completed their final Restaurant Practical, and what a recipe for success it was! They kept their cool under pressure, whisked through every challenge, and served excellence from the kitchen to the dining room.

Ready to take your shot? All students interested in playing basketball this year must attend our Basketball Introduction Session on Monday, 3 August, from 14:30–15:30. Meet the coach, learn about upcoming training and fixtures, and take the first step towards representing Maragon Mooikloof!

Ready to make your next move? Join Maragon Mooikloof Chess and sharpen your focus, build strategic thinking and grow in confidence through training every Monday and Wednesday from 14:30–16:00, with Chess Club taking place every second Friday.

Join us on 3 August for an important digital awareness presentation by Prof. Anke de Beer, as we equip our school community to navigate the online world safely and responsibly.

Students will attend a morning session during school hours, followed by a Parent Information Evening from 18:00–19:30 in the School Auditorium. Together, we can create safer, more positive digital spaces for our children.

A phenomenal achievement by Akani Mavikane, who competed in an incredible 12 categories at the Dance awards & Competition (DASA) and achieved 1st place with a Diamond Award in every performance — the highest scoring category of 95–100%! Akani was also honoured with two Adjudicators’ Special Awards for Most Moving Performance and Best Stage Presence. We are incredibly proud of this outstanding accomplishment!

Our Grade 12 Drama students had the privilege of attending the closing performance of Woza Albert! at the Market Theatre.

Seeing this iconic South African production performed live provided a valuable opportunity to deepen their understanding of the prescribed text, while experiencing the power of theatre in the very space where so much of our country's theatrical history has been made.

A memorable and inspiring afternoon of learning beyond the classroom.
