We find ourselves living during very difficult times. COVID 19 has also affected participation by high school learners in the three International Science Olympiads in July 2020.
These (IBO, ICHO and IPHO) have been cancelled as a contact event. Some will have remote exams - we will not be able to participate in these also as the students need to write in one venue. This may still not be possible in July (ICHO) and August (IBO) as the COVID restrictions are likely to continue.
Hence in July 2020, our teams will not be able to represent South Africa at the International Physics (IPHO), Chemistry (ICHO) and Biology (IBO) Olympiads. We feel for the students who were selected, but have now lost out on a life-changing opportunity.
14/04/2020
CoVid19 has changed the world in a massive way.
The International Science Olympiads in Physics, Chemistry and Biology are at risk of cancellation or significantly changed.
A lot will hinge in how well the world copes in the next month or two.
Students who have been selected to represent South Africa at these three Olympiads must continue to prepare for the events.
It is hoped that these events may at least be held even as online exams.
We await further information from the organisers.

Congratulations to these students and we wish them well. We also encourage them to work very hard in the next few weeks and to aim high. Success will only come with hard work.
To compete at International, it requires discipline, dedication, determination and hours and hours of work with lots of sacrifices.

POSTING ANSWERS AFTER PAPERS ARE WRITTEN
Please note that registered mail may be a problem with the post office.
However, their speed services is reasonably efficient and cheaper than courier for R82 for the 1 kg pack in their envelope.
I think you can use this option to post the answers.

The 21st Awards function of the South African Science Olympiads was held on Saturday 25 November at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. It was attended by about 250 guests.
The comment that came in from Word of life Christian School that travelled from Gauteng to the function is shown below:
"Good Morning Robin,
I would just like to thank you for Saturday’s function, it was really
Lovely and the Word of Life kids really enjoyed every second.
Jaden is so motivated after listening to the speeches, and is raring to start learning more and begin with grade 6 self study.
I was wondering if you could give me advise on where to get old
papers from, and which books / websites to go to, where he can
begin reading up on the grade 6 work?
Regards JOANNE SHORT"
