Swimming lessons can initially feel overwhelming for young children because the structured pool environment differs sharply from casual playtime with parents, introducing unfamiliar sensations and routines.

Factors like sensory sensitivities, past negative water experiences, or simple dislike of getting wet amplify emotional distress, leading to tears, resistance, or anxiety.

Our expert team tailors every lesson to your child’s unique pace and needs, prioritizing confidence-building over fear to ensure a positive, fear-free journey toward loving the water.💦🤍

Why are swimming lessons so expensive?

Well, let’s dive into that — pun definitely intended. 🤭

First off, let’s be clear: 📣 we as swim schools must try to keep fees low so every kiddo can learn to swim, because let’s face it, swimming is a vital life skill 🫶🏼(and also a great excuse to show off your best cannonball splash 🐳).

BUT, there’s a whole ocean of costs beneath the surface.🌊

We call ourselves swim schools because, basically, we’re like little preschools… only wetter💦

Our teachers are a total catch🎣 they have special qualifications and have to keep brushing up on them — 💪🏼These superhumans need salaries that match their expertise (Go read our post about swim instructors)

Then there’s the facilities. Imagine your electricity bill... now triple it because we have to heat a whole indoor pool 24/7. 🥵It’s no sweat,it’s a tsunami! 🌊
Oh and the pool cleaning is a never-ending wave of work, like cleaning a giant bathtub big enough for a whale🐋

And don’t forget bathrooms and changing rooms that have to be cleaned constantly, so you’re not stepping into a swamp.

We wish we could just borrow your school hall or rugby field, but nooo, we need actual water 🥴— the wet stuff. 🚿So, yes, we pay property rates and taxes just to say, “Welcome to the pool!” 🍾

On top of that, there’s property maintenance🤢—the not-so-glamorous but absolutely essential work that keeps the whole place shipshape. From fixing leaks faster than a submarine in distress to making sure every aspect is sea-worthy, maintenance keeps us afloat and safe.🚣‍♀️⛵️

And if you think that’s it, there is more! We’re also a business (none of us swim coaches passed Accounting 101💸). So we hire accountants to keep our finances swimming smoothly— because swimming and spreadsheets don’t exactly mix. Oh, there is admin and other stuff to keep up with regulations (because apparently, “just keep everyone dry” isn’t a safety policy🙄)

So yes, swim lessons are on the pricey side — but there’s a very good reason for it.

Next time you’re scratching your head about why rugby seems cheaper than swimming, just remember: in our world, we basically run a waterpark underneath all the other important stuff.
