For several decades People of African descent in the diaspora have been celebrating black history month. This celebration focuses on the struggles of African peoples against slavery and colonialism.
The Kara Heritage Institute and the Pan African Peoples Institute noted and recognised that in pre-colonial times Africans defined themselves as Ethiopians, the forebears of ancient Egyptians. The definition of Africans by the colour of their skin is the Legacy of racism and colonialism.
All major nations in the world do not define themselves by the colour of their skin. For instance, Europeans do not call themselves white people and Chinese do not call themselves brown people. There is no rational basis for Africans to disinherit themselves of their true identity and define themselves as black people.
This definition continues and entrenches the legacy of racism and colonialism. The Kara Heritage Institute and the Pan African Peoples Institute (PAPI) have recognised and acknowledged that Africans are the first of all humanity and Africa is the cradle of humanity and civilisation.
We therefore cordially invite you to be part of this Colloquium and Celebrations, which are aiming to change the narrative, and place African people back on their God given position.
The celebrations will take place as per the attached picture on the 7th March 2023, in Pretoria, from 9am until 2pm.
Looking forward to hosting you, food and refreshments will be served on the day.
Regards,
Kara Heritage Institute.
