Alma School’s founding dates back to 1963, when parents of disabled children formed a care group, giving one another a bit of free time to accomplish other things. It is now a departmental school, resorting under the Gauteng Department of Education providing special education for severe intellectually and physical disabled learners. a Current enrolment of 380 learners aged between five and eightee

n attends the school. We are situated at 407 Eloff Street, Eloffsdal, Pretoria. INFORMATION ABOUT THE SCHOOL:

Alma School is divided into different learning phases and follows the National Differentiated Caps Curriculum (D Caps) for severe intellectually disabled learners (SID)
1. Grade R (Stimulation Phase)
Learners from the ages (5-6 years) in the Stimulation Phase are exposed to a stimulation and perceptual program.
2. Grade1, Grade 2, Grade 3
Junior learners (ages 7-13 years) are exposed to an adapted National Curriculum in Language, Mathematics and Life Skills. The assessment standards are broken down into simplistic steps.
3. Grade 4, Grade 5, (Skills Phases)
The learners (Ages 14-18 years) in this phase are also exposed to the above subjecys, as well as skills subjects, like Office Admin, Agriculture, Ancillary Heath, Art and Craft, and Consumer studies. It is part of work orientation as preparation towards placement in sheltered workplaces or labour market. Alma School is a registered Non-Profit Organisation with Section 18A Tax Status (tax exemption applicable on donations). Our school relies greatly on donations and sponsorships to ensure our sustainability.

🌱 A BIG Thank You to Chamberlains Riviera! 🌱
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Chamberlains Riviera for their wonderful Spekboom Project and for choosing our school to be part of this meaningful environmental initiative. 💚
The Chamberlains team visited our school and generously donated Spekboom plants, which they helped us plant around our school grounds. 🌿
This project is about so much more than planting trees. It gives our learners the opportunity to learn about caring for our environment, sustainability, conservation and the importance of plants — while helping to make our school a greener and more beautiful place. 🌍🌱
We truly appreciate the time, effort and generosity shown by the Chamberlains Riviera team. Your contribution will continue to grow and make a difference for many years to come.
