2027 ONLINE ADMISSIONS FOR GRADE 1 AND 8

TYPES OF PROOF OF HOME ADDRESS

Proof of Home Address is the most important document when applying as placement is confirmed on whether the school could verify the details of the Proof of Home Address.

Proof of Home Address applicants upload or submit should have details that match those entered by applicants on the System, and they must be certified.

The following documents are accepted as Proof of Home Address:

Homeowners:

1. Municipal account not older than 3 months in the name of the applicant parent bearing the full residential address.

Tenants/Renters:

1. Municipal account not older than 3 months in the name of the landlord (homeowner) bearing the full physical residential address.

2. Certified copies of the following documents:

Landlord’s ID.

Lease agreement signed by landlord and tenant, not older than 3 months, bearing the full physical residential address.

Rental payment slip with full physical residential address not older than 3 months.

Statement of any account in the name of the applicant parent bearing the full physical residential address.

Applicant who lives in a family home whereby the municipal bill bears the name of their parent:

In addition to the municipal account in the name of the homeowner (parent of the applicant parent), the applicant must submit the ID of his/her parent and any statement of account not older than 3 months, in the name of the applicant parent, and addressed to the same address as the municipal account.

Applicant renting a back room with no lease agreement or proof of payment/statement:

A lease agreement and all the other documentation required of tenants are mandatory.

NB:

“Offer of purchase”, Affidavits and Bank Statements will NOT be accepted as proof of home address.

Fraudulent Proof of Home Address will render applications invalid and result in no placement.

Gauteng MEC for Education, Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation, Lebogang Maile, has announced that applications for the 2027 Online Admissions for Grade 1 and Grade 8 will officially open at 08h00 on Wednesday, 5 August 2026, and close at 00h00 (midnight) on Friday, 4 September 2026.

Parents and legal guardians are encouraged to prepare early by gathering the required supporting documents, verifying their information and familiarising themselves with the application process before the system opens.

MEC MAILE TO ANNOUNCE 2027 ONLINE ADMISSIONS COMMENCEMENT DATE AND APPLICATION PROCESS

Gauteng MEC for Education, Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation, Lebogang Maile, will on Monday, 27 July 2026, announce the commencement date and application process for the 2027 Online Admissions for Grade 1 and Grade 8 in Gauteng.

The MEC will outline the application timeline, key dates and the admissions process, while providing parents and guardians with important information they need to successfully apply for placement at Gauteng public schools for the 2027 academic year.

GRADE R ADMISSIONS FOR 2027

Dear Parents/Caregivers/Guardians

We are pleased to inform you that Grade R Applications for 2027 will officially open as follows:

Dates: 27 July 2026 – 31 July 2026
Time: 12:30 – 14:00 (Monday to Friday)

Important Notice

Please note that Grade R applications will NOT be processed online. All applications must be submitted in person at Nellmapius Primary School during the dates and times indicated above.

Required Documents

Please submit the following certified copies:

Learner's Birth Certificate.

Clinic Card/Road-to-Health Booklet (pages containing the learner's details and immunisation record).

Parent/Legal Guardian's Identity Document (ID).

Proof of Residence.

Please Note

Priority will be given to learners residing within and around the Nellmapius Primary School feeder zone.

All documents must be certified (not older than three (3) months) and clearly legible.

Completed application forms will only be accepted at the school during the specified application period.

Parents/Guardians are encouraged to apply as early as possible, as spaces are limited and applications will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Submission of an application does not guarantee placement. Admission is subject to the school's admission policy and the availability of space.
