Our Grade 1 boys enjoyed an out-of-this-world experience when the Mobile Planetarium visited WHPS. Inside the inflatable dome, they journeyed through the solar system, learning fascinating facts about the planets and stars.
The interactive presentation encouraged curiosity and participation, with the boys eagerly sharing their own knowledge and asking thoughtful questions. The experience was filled with wonder, imagination, and a love for learning about the incredible universe around us.

Our recent Public Speaking Event was an inspiring showcase of confidence, courage and talent. Prepared speeches were delivered with skill and enthusiasm.
We were delighted to welcome participants from Trinityhouse Centurion and Tyger Valley College, and grateful to our guest adjudicators, Ize van der Westhuizen and Debra Nel, for their valuable feedback.
From thought-provoking ideas to humorous reflections, the evening highlighted the power of young voices.

The WHPS family is deeply saddened about the passing of Mr Doran Herringer, previous headmaster of Waterkloof House Prep School, on 10 June 2026. Mr Herringer worked and lived at WHPS for 36 years, and his dedication and commitment to the school contributed to its success. He was employed by Michael de Lisle (Headmaster 1973 โ 1981) as a teacher in 1974 and, in 1988 promoted to Deputy Headmaster by Patrick Hamilton (Headmaster 1981 โ 1989).
In 2003, Mr Herringer was appointed Headmaster of WHPS, where he served until his retirement at the end of 2009. Doran and his wife, Dee, moved to the Eastern Cape where they enjoyed quality time together in this beautiful part of South Africa.
We salute Doran and his exceptional service to WHPS, its boys, and the school family. Our deepest sympathy is extended to Doranโs wife โ Dee, their son โ Angus, daughter โ Sarah, and the entire family. Our thoughts and prayers are with them.
Mr Herringer loved cricket and, amongst his many talents as a teacher and leader, he was a musician and a poet. In one of his poems, ๐๐ข๐ฎ๐ฆ ๐ฐ๐ง ๐๐ช๐ง๐ฆ, Doran encapsulated the lesson embedded in the WHPS motto, โWork Hard Play Straightโ.
