The University of South Africa (Unisa) has been in existence since 1873.

The Unisa Library is one of the largest academic libraries in Africa and also one of the best-endowed with information resources, information technology and expert staff. The Library came into being in 1946 when Unisa introduced distance teaching as a mode of tuition. 🌍🎢 Yesterday, on 1 June 2026, the UNISA Library welcomed an international delegation participating in the South African Music Technology and Innovation Capacity-Building (SAMTIC) Project, an Erasmus+ funded initiative.

As part of their campus visit, guests toured the UNISA Music Instrument Collection housed within the Library Archives, where they explored a unique collection that reflects South Africa's rich musical and cultural heritage.

The visit provided an opportunity to showcase UNISA's valuable archival collections while fostering international collaboration, innovation, and knowledge exchange in music education and technology.
