Leadership Camp 2026

From the 3rd to the 6th of August, the Grade 11 group set out for Spirit of Adventure in Magaliesburg to find out. Throughout the camp, we were challenged physically and mentally, pushing us beyond our comfort zones while strengthening our leadership, communication, and teamwork skills. We built meaningful connections, learned more about ourselves and our peers, developed resilience, and discovered lessons that will continue to shape us in many aspects of our lives.

What happens when imagination is given the freedom to move? Art comes alive.

Our Junior School Art exhibition was a beautiful celebration of creativity, imagination and the artistic journeys of our girls. Each artwork reflected their unique ideas, perspectives and willingness to explore.

We are incredibly proud of our young artists and all they created.

A heartfelt thank you to our girls, families, staff and everyone who helped bring to life.

Ideas in Motion. Creativity in Motion. Our girls in Motion.

Innovation Week | Day 2: Mathematics in Action!

Who says Mathematics only happens on paper?

Day 2 of Innovation Week saw our Grade 8 students exploring the world of Mathematics through hands-on, practical learning. Using LEGO®️, students investigated 2D constructions, 3D shapes, structural design, and the art of geometry, discovering how mathematical concepts come to life through creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving.

At St Mary’s DSG, we pride ourselves on creating learning experiences that challenge traditional approaches to education. We believe students learn best when they are given opportunities to think differently, build, create, explore, and discover through engaging, practical activities that make learning meaningful and memorable.

The day concluded on a high-energy note with a Mathematics Relay, where students worked in teams to tackle mathematical challenges under pressure, demonstrating that teamwork, critical thinking, and resilience are just as important as finding the correct answer.

Because when students can see it, build it, and experience it, Mathematics becomes more than just numbers—it becomes innovation

Innovation looks different for everyone.

During innovation week, our Grade 10 students stepped into the driver’s seat of their learning by choosing from 8 different subject-based innovation projects, each designed around identifying a real-world problem and using the knowledge and skills from their chosen subject to develop an innovative solution.

By giving students choice, we empower them to pursue their interests, play to their strengths, and discover that they can make a meaningful impact in ways that inspire them most.

Innovation isn’t reserved for Science, Mathematics, and Technology. It thrives just as powerfully in Dramatic Arts, Visual Arts, History, Geography, Life Orientation, and every other discipline where curiosity, creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration come together to solve real-world challenges.

Because the innovators of tomorrow won’t all think the same—and that’s exactly the point.

What a memorable evening under the stars.

On Saturday, our Junior School community came together for a special Movie Night in support of two meaningful causes: Irene Homes and Padisago Primary School in Atteridgeville.

More than just a fun evening, the event reflected the spirit of generosity and compassion that defines our community. Thank you to every family who joined us and helped make the night such a success.

Big ideas start with bold thinking!

Our Grade 9 students have officially embarked on their Entrepreneurship Challenge for Innovation Week. Working collaboratively in teams, they are identifying real-world challenges facing the African continent and developing innovative, sustainable business solutions to address them.

A huge thank you to Yelena Khan, who kick-started the challenge with an inspiring session on cultivating an entrepreneurial mindset, encouraging our students to think creatively, embrace challenges, and see opportunities where others see obstacles.

Over the course of the week, these young innovators refined their ideas before presenting their business pitches in a Shark Tank-style finale, where they’ll showcase their creativity, critical thinking, and entrepreneurial spirit.

We can’t wait to see the next generation of African change makers in action!
