Join us at the Alliance Française de Pretoria for the opening of Silent Knowledge, a new exhibition by Cameron de Bruyn, on Thurs, 6 Aug at 6:00pm.

Join us at the Alliance Française de Pretoria for the opening of Silent Knowledge, a thought-provoking new exhibition by South African artist Cameron de Bruyn, on Thursday, 6 August at 6:00pm. Admission is free, and everyone is welcome.

In this compelling body of work, Cameron continues his exploration of material, perception, and meaning. His current practice transforms paper waste into richly layered assemblages mounted on masonite boards salvaged after the elections. Working with oil pastel and encaustic wax, he massages and builds these discarded materials into textured surfaces that reflect on the cultural dust we leave upon the earth.

At the heart of Cameron's work is a desire to engage the viewer. He invites us to question how we see the world, suggesting that our perceptions are often shaped by assumptions rather than reality itself. By drawing attention to what usually escapes our notice, his work encourages us to pause, reflect, and truly observe before reacting.

For Silent Knowledge, Cameron turns his attention to a paradox: the kind of knowledge that cannot be fully explained because it disappears the moment we try to describe it. Through layered materials, subtle forms, and quiet visual language, the exhibition explores intuition, memory, experience, and the unspoken understanding that exists beyond words.

Join us for an evening of art, conversation, and reflection as we celebrate the opening of Silent Knowledge.

📅 Opening: Thursday, 6 August
