𝙅𝙖𝙧𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙃𝙤𝙥𝙚 𝘿𝙧𝙞𝙫𝙚

We visited 𝗥𝗲𝗱𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀𝗱𝗮𝗮𝗱 𝗞𝘄𝗮𝗴𝗴𝗮𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗼𝗿𝘁, a charity organisation that has been serving and caring for people in the community for more than 35 years.

Here, people who are in need are given a place to stay in Wendy-house shelters, as well as daily meals and support. Our Jars of Hope donation helped provide a meal for several families - something simple, but something that makes a difference. 💛

A special thank you to Madelein Kruger and your incredible team, who work tirelessly to manage the project and make sure that the people here have a roof over their heads and something warm to eat at the end of the day.

We also spent some time in Kwaggaspoort, handing out Jars of Hope directly to people in the community who needed a meal.

No big production. No fancy words. Just people helping people, one meal at a time.

𝟮𝟱 𝗗𝗔𝗬𝗦 𝗢𝗙 𝗨𝗕𝗨𝗡𝗧𝗨 𝗜 𝗗𝗔𝗬 𝟴 🩷
𝙅𝙖𝙧𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙃𝙤𝙥𝙚 𝘿𝙧𝙞𝙫𝙚

Day 8 took us on a very special visit drive with Marné Jacobs from 𝗘𝗹𝗲𝗼𝘀, giving us a glimpse into the many ways they support and uplift their community.

For Eleos, upliftment is about looking at the 𝘄𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻, 𝗮𝘀 𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗳𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆 - providing food, supporting childhood development and education, strengthening families, nurturing spiritual growth and creating opportunities for people to become more self-sufficient and build a better future.

We visited a 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗕𝗼𝗼𝘆𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘀 𝗕𝗲𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗷𝗶𝗲𝘀, both offering incredible aftercare programmes for children, before heading to 𝗠𝗮𝗻 𝗔𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲, where vulnerable and homeless men are supported through meals, counselling, Bible study and practical care. We ended our day at the 𝗧𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲 at Eleos’ premises, a space focused on equipping young people with the skills, confidence and support they need to thrive in the world beyond school.

And in between it all were so many beautiful moments - excited children asking questions about our Jars of Hope, meeting the lovely ladies behind the cookie buckets, and spending time with the passionate people at Eleos who make all of this possible.

Different programmes. Different people. Different needs. But one common purpose: uplifting people, building confidence and strengthening communities. ❤️

Our first Jars of Hope drop-off is officially underway!

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our CHS community, we were able to donate 𝟭𝟬𝟬 𝗝𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗛𝗼𝗽𝗲 to Geseënde Hande Elandspoort, where these jars will help provide warm, nutritious meals to families in their community.

And on freezing winter days like these, a warm meal couldn’t come at a better time!

A very special thank you to 𝗧𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗲 𝗕𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗲 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗿’𝘀 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝗽 𝗞𝗶𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗻 for an incredible 30 years of giving back to the community. Your dedication, compassion and love are evident in everything you do - not only in the meals you provide, but in the care and kindness you show to every person who comes to your doorstep.

Each jar is filled with carefully layered ingredients that will become a warm, nutritious meal for a family of four. What started as simple ingredients is turning into 𝟰𝟬𝟬 𝗷𝗮𝗿𝘀 of hope, kindness and nourishment for families in need.

Our students were proud to lend a hand at the 𝗧𝗲𝘅𝗮𝘀 𝗦𝗺𝗼𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝗠𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗙𝗲𝘀𝘁 at Capital Craft , where they gained invaluable hands-on experience while working alongside industry professionals in a fast-paced event environment. From service to teamwork, every opportunity outside the classroom helps shape confident hospitality professionals.

Our final visit this week took us to 𝗕𝗲𝗹 𝗔𝗶𝗿, part of 𝗗𝗶𝗲 𝗕𝗹𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗻𝗱𝘀 | 𝗙𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗮 group - and what a beautiful way to end the week.

From the moment we arrived, there was a true feeling of 𝗳𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆. We watched this close-knit community laugh together, care for one another and offer the kind of support that reminds you what Ubuntu is really all about. We even shared a little birthday song with the residents 🎂, and the smiles, appreciation and warmth we received in return were incredibly special.

Bel Air may be a smaller community, but 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻 𝗶𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘆. ❤️

As staff and students of Capital Hotel School, we are so grateful for every wonderful face we had the privilege of meeting this week, every story shared, every hug received and every moment of connection. We sincerely hope our paths cross again one day.

For Days 4 and 5 of our 25 Days of Ubuntu, we combined our visits to 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗸 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗼𝗿, both part of 𝗗𝗶𝗲 𝗕𝗹𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗻𝗱𝘀 | 𝗙𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗮 group.

We were welcomed into a beautiful open courtyard, with perfect weather, warm smiles and an atmosphere that immediately made us feel at home.

We were absolutely spoiled with compliments, warm hugs and even a little dancing! 💃 Moments like these remind us just how precious the gift of communication, connection and simply listening to one another truly is.

We also had a very special visitor join us - 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗲𝘆, 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗿-𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗴𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱 🐾 - who happily shared plenty of love, attention and cuddles with everyone.

A heartfelt thank you to 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝗲𝗻𝗸𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗳 𝗘𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗕𝘂𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘆 for their generous boerewors donation. Because of your kindness, we were able to prepare delicious sausage rolls to share with the homes we visited this week. ❤️

Our staff and students had the privilege of spending time with the wonderful residents of 𝗔𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗻 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗮𝘁 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝗲𝗻𝗸𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗳, one of the retirement villages in the 𝗗𝗶𝗲 𝗕𝗹𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗜 𝗙𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗮 group, for a special afternoon tea. ☕🍰

Over tea, coffee, cake and sausage rolls, stories were shared, friendships were made, and hearts were filled. Ronél treated everyone to a beautiful reading accompanied by light music, creating a truly special afternoon.

To end the visit, each resident received a packet of homemade rooibos tea-infused cookies, lovingly baked by our students and lecturers.
