Well done Chandeline
21-year old Chandeline Jordaan is the pride of her community in Hopeland in the Western Cape after she became one of the Department of Water and Sanitation’s bursary recipients.
The inquisitive Chandeline landed the bursary after she participated in the Department’s Aqua Enduro Programme in 2014. Chandeline, who did Physical Science as one of her subjects in high school, was encouraged by her school teacher to be part of the Aqua Enduro competition, an initiative by the department to address the skill shortage in the scientific and engineering disciplines within the water sector at grass roots level.
Riding top of the wave at being one of the 20 pupils to be awarded the bursary, Chandeline is now studying towards a BSC in Construction Studies at the University of Cape Town.
Being the first in her family to enter a lecture room, Chandeline says she is grateful to the Department of Water and Sanitation for realising her potential and awarding her a bursary to fulfil her dreams.
Chandeline is an ardent believer in putting her head down and working hard to achieve her academic goals, and says she will be completing her studies this year and go on to do much bigger things in life.
