Afrikaans came alive in Stage 2 ! 📚✨
Our learners learned how to change a sentence into the past tense through movement and storytelling. They met the verb bully “het”—who pushes the verb to the back of the sentence! But the verb didn’t want to leave the playground… so it grabbed its “ge-” shield to protect itself. 🛡️😄
The learners acted it out with their whole bodies by moving the verbs themselves, which made the concept so much easier to understand—and so much fun too!
And well... we don't like sitting inside all day 😆
Brains, buzzers and a whole lot of fun! Term Two social 🎉 QUIZ NIGHT 🎊✨️
Finally, an opportunity for all the random facts to become useful 😅💡🧠
🏃♂️🫁 Respiration in Action at BRC! 🫁🏃♀️
Our AS 1 Biology learners got active in a practical lesson investigating how exercise affects breathing rate. Students measured their breathing rates at rest, completed short bursts of exercise, and then analysed how their bodies responded to increased oxygen demand and energy requirements.
The lesson sparked deeper scientific thinking as learners connected their results to concepts such as aerobic respiration, gas exchange, oxygen uptake, and carbon dioxide removal. As activity levels increased, so did curiosity and engagement!
By collecting, comparing, and evaluating their own data, students strengthened practical investigation skills and developed a clearer understanding of how the respiratory system responds during physical activity.
This active-learning lesson also promoted strong metacognition, as learners reflected on the reliability of their measurements, considered variables affecting their results, and analysed how experimental evidence supports biological theory.
Real movement. Real data. Real Biology — learning in action at BRC! 🔬✨
Tiny historians, big ideas ✨ Our learners celebrated International Museum Day by creating their very own museums based on the history topics they’ve been learning about. 🏛️📚
How cute!!!
Museum State of Mind 🧐🥸
Our History students took a historical walk down memory lane visualizing, explaining, and presenting events of the past to celebrate Museum Day. Bringing their own conceptualized museums to class ✨️
Creativity & facts = beautiful storytelling 🤩
Movie Review Writing🎬🍿
The stage 7's demonstrated excellent viewing and writing skills by writing a concise reviews while watching a short film.
We had some snacks and used our sentence construction skills in relevant and new ways!🍿
New week, new opportunities ✨️ Let's go!
📏 “Are you a square or are you a rectangle?” 🤔
That was the question of the day in Stage 2!
Our learners measured their friends’ height and compared it to their arm span to discover what type of “shape” they are.
The learners then drew their own “shapes” and measured them again to confirm whether they were a square or a rectangle. What a fun way to combine Maths, creativity, and active learning!
