I am R2000 away from maximising my 2024 TFSA.
One of the biggest benefits to this account is that you will not get taxed on dividends and capital gains.
One of the interesting facts I came across recently is that if you open the account for your child and maximise it for just two consecutive years (2 x R36 000) ONLY, if you leave that money on the account for 15 years at an estimated growth of 10%. Your child would be having about R430 000 when they turn 16.
The power of compound interest. The power of tax free benefits👏🏽
Of course this is not incorporating inflation, but still this is a great way to plan for your child.
What are your strategies for your children??

Did they try to scam me or what??
Shuuu bathong,
Didn’t I receive a call from a sales guy who claim to be from my car tracking company. We had a good conversation, the guy was telling about a new App the company has with some cool features.
He went on to say, can you please verify your ID, lol guys why am I the one who need verification? You are the one who called me I should be the one verifying you.
So he agreed and proceeded to say, he has my email address, so he will send me an email so I can proceed to download this App. I was actually okay with this, although I know that for me to download an App I don’t need a link. I can go and search it on App store.
He then said, for the APP to pre-populate your information I am sending you an OTP, please confirm the OTP. 😅😅 bathong guys, are you guys giving people OTPs?? I told him that I am not sending you an OTP
1. The fact that the sms says OTP from company “X” doesn’t necessarily mean this guy, and his numbers are indeed form the company
2. Why can’t I log the OTP on the App myself when I download the App
⚠️ You should NEVER give anyone an OTP. It can really be for anything.
So I gave this guys an option of how we are going to proceed, I said, I have the verified numbers of the company. Give me your full names and I will call you back from that number.
He was very “emotional” about this and claimed that he knows my information such as when I installed the tracker, when I upgraded etc. I told him that we are receiving calls everyday by people selling us things who knows our personal details, unfortunately for me that doesn’t validate his legitimacy.
His last straw was, I can never do that to you😅😅. Yoh guys such promises from a stranger ??
I said give me your names so I can call you from the number I know. He only gave me his name, when I called the company, I unfortunately couldn’t find him.

One of the first tasks that I do during my personal finance coaching sessions is to review 3 months banking statement with my mentees. The question I normally ask after that task is “If your banking statement could say something about you, what would it say?”
Here is why it is important to review your financial statements:
Financial Awareness: It provides a detailed overview of the individual’s income, expenses, and spending habits, which is crucial for understanding their current financial situation.
Identifying area of improvement: Analyzing three months’ worth of statements helps identify potential areas for improvement.
Spotting Errors and Fraud: Reviewing statements can help catch any errors or unauthorized transactions, protecting the individual from financial losses due to fraud. There’s a lot of that happening lately.
Budgeting: It forms the basis for creating a realistic budget. An individual can see where their money is going and make necessary adjustments to align their spending with their financial goals.

I just love walking the journey with my clients and seeing their progress. There’s just better feeling. In 2022, I met this lady who just wanted to learn the art of saving and nurture discipline. After our session she said, I want to save so I can start investing. In the beginning of this year she came to me and said Zwannda I am ready to invest. We started yesterday with “lnvesting in ETFs” and I can’t wait to see where this gets her.
If you’d like a coach, an accountability partner and a guide reach out to me for either our Masterclass starting in February or one on one coaching for specific session💃🏽💃🏽

During my festive break I managed to read a lot of books, of which some are personal finance book. So I decided to record reviews for all the personal finance books, starting with Mind your Cents by Fulufhelani Mashapha.
So fulfilling but yet scary to be back on YouTube, please give me a warm welcome there by the red app. Here is the link https://youtu.be/-zcTzly65uY?si=15xYwQaxbz92dU6s
