"Bescherm je hart boven alles wat te behoeden is, want daaruit zijn de uitingen van het leven." - Spr. 4:23

Het Hebreeuwse woord voor hart is 'LEV'. In dit woord zit een diepe les verborgen. Het woord 'lev' bestaat maar uit 2 letters: de Lameth (L) en de Beth (B of V). Zoals je misschien weet, hebben Hebreeuwse letters ook een betekenis. De Lameth heeft de vorm van een herderstaf en betekent ONDERWIJZEN/LEIDEN/BESTUREN en de Beth betekent HUIS. Wat we in het woord LEV dus zien, is dat je hart de besturing is van je huis. Je zou kunnen zeggen: het hart is de stuurhut van je levensschip.

Als je een juiste koers wil varen met een schip, is het ontzettend belangrijk om te zorgen dat alles wat de stuurhut binnenkomt, goed is. Alle informatie wat betreft diepte, koers, andere schepen etc. moet goed zijn, anders komt het schip nooit aan op bestemming. Zeker niet in tijden van storm! Ook moet je zorgen dat als er kapers zijn, ze nooit in de stuurhut/cockpit komen, want dan kunnen ze de koers beïnvloeden.
Zo is het ook met jouw leven. Wat in jouw hart binnenkomt, bepaalt welke koers je uitzet in het leven. Als je je hart vult met reine dingen en met het Woord van God, hou je helder zicht op wat belangrijk is in het leven, en zul je de juiste koers bepalen. Als je je hart vult met onreinheid en dingen die je van God afhouden, werkt je radar niet goed meer en moet je niet verwachten dat je op de juiste bestemming uitkomt. We moeten de duivel geen voet geven (Ef. 4:27) in onze stuurhut, want dan gaat hij de koers bepalen!
Is het niet opmerkelijk dat we op zoveel dingen zuinig zijn in het leven, soms de meest onbelangrijke dingen, terwijl we ons hart zo vaak niet beschermen? En juist ons hart is het belangrijkste deel van ons levensschip, 'daaruit zijn de uitingen van het leven'.

Geef dus prioriteit aan het beschermen van wat er in je hart en je gedachten binnenkomt. Dan zul je koershouden in een stormachtige wereld, op weg naar Jezus' Koninkrijk.

Hy het geen gestalte of heerlikheid gehad, dat ons Hom sou aansien nie, en geen voorkoms, dat ons Hom sou begeer nie. Hy was verag en deur die mense verlaat, 'n man van smarte en bekend met krankheid; ja, soos een vir wie 'n mens sy gelaat verberg; Hy was verag en ons het Hom nie geag nie. Nogtans het Hý óns krankhede op Hom geneem, en óns smarte — dié het Hy gedra; maar óns het Hom gehou vir een wat geplaag, deur God geslaan en verdruk was. Maar Hy is ter wille van ons oortredinge deurboor, ter wille van ons ongeregtighede is Hy verbrysel; die straf wat vir ons die vrede aanbring, was op Hom, en deur sy wonde het daar vir ons genesing gekom. Ons almal het gedwaal soos skape, ons het elkeen sy eie pad geloop; maar die Here het die ongeregtigheid van ons almal op Hom laat neerkom. Hy is mishandel, hoewel Hy onderworpe was, en Hy het sy mond nie oopgemaak nie; soos 'n lam wat na die slagplek gelei word en soos 'n skaap wat stom is voor sy skeerders — ja, Hy het sy mond nie oopgemaak nie. Uit die druk en uit die strafgerig is Hy weggeneem; en onder sy tydgenote — wie het daaroor gedink dat Hy afgesny is uit die land van die lewendes? Ter wille van die oortreding van my volk was die plaag op Hom. En hulle het Hom sy graf by die goddelose gegee; en by 'n ryke was Hy in sy dood, omdat Hy geen onreg gedoen het nie en geen bedrog in sy mond gewees het nie. Maar dit het die Here behaag om Hom te verbrysel; Hy het Hom krank gemaak; as sy siel 'n skuldoffer aangebied het, sal Hy 'n nakroos sien; Hy sal die dae verleng, en die welbehae van die Here sal deur sy hand voorspoedig wees. Weens die moeitevolle lyde van sy siel sal Hy dit sien en versadig word; deur sy kennis sal my Kneg, die Regverdige, baie regverdig maak; en Hý sal hulle skuld dra. Daarom sal Ek Hom 'n deel gee onder die grotes, en met magtiges sal Hy buit verdeel; omdat Hy sy siel uitgestort het in die dood en saam met die oortreders getel was, terwyl Hy tog die sonde van baie gedra en vir die oortreders gebid het.

Are the Old Testament laws still applicable to us today? There are 613 laws in the old testament and 1050 laws in the New testament, of which some of the old testament laws were included and enhanced to even higher levels of sanctification, i.e. if a man now calls his brother an idiot, he is already guilty of physical murder, or if a man looks at a woman (visa versa), with lustfull intent, he has already committed adultry. Further to this, the new testament (covenant) also requires of us to lay down our own lives, die to self, be willing to be prosecuted for righteousness sake, forgive and bless our enimies and love them, have our minds and hearts renewed, have our hearts circumcised, be born again (start a new life free from sin and sin is defined by God's law), just to name a few. In essance, after studying the whole Bible myself, I have come to the conclusion that the New Testament laws are even harder to keep and of a higher order than that of the old Testament laws and at the same time God's laws are not hard to keep (1 John 5:3) with the help of the Holy Spirit to guide us and having been given a new Spirit after being born again in Yeshua. All of God's laws are only for our benifit and for the benifit of our relationship with Him and others around us. He will also not expect of us to do something which we won't be able to do. Yeshua then took it further by stating, "If you love me, you will obey My commandments." (John 14:15) and John said:"this IS THE LOVE of God, that we keep His commandments." (1 John 5:3) Yet, we do not keep the law to be saved, since this wasn't even the case in the old testament, we have always been saved through faith in God alone. We do however keep it because it shows that we love God and the people around us. We must be careful however not to loose our salvation through habitual and willful premeditated sin and stay faithful to our King and Redeemer, Yeshua. (2 Tim 2:12-18, 2 Joh 1:8-9, Rom 2:6-10, Heb 6:5-6, James 2:14). Watch this video of a good friend of mine to find out more on how you can better your relationship with God by truly loving Him.

One New Man is based upon Ephesians 2:11-22, which speaks about what Yeshua (Jesus) did for us on the cross (Heb 10:10, Isaiah 53), making a way for reconciliation between God the Father, Jews and Gentiles and breaking down the dividing wall that previously existed between Jews and Gentiles. Sin brought separation between man and God (1 John 3:4-10, Isaiah 59:2). Yeshua made a way for Jews and Gentiles to be sanctified and set apart from sin, to be one new creation in Him (2 Cor 5:17), to be able to worship Him in Spirit and in Truth (John 4:23) and to ultimately become His bride (Revelation 19:7-9). If we want to be part of Yeshua’s bride and have an intimate relationship with Him, He expects of us to follow the pattern given to us in the Tabernacle of Moses (Exodus 25 to 30) as the way to draw near to God and worship Him (Hebrews 8,9). This is confirmed in verse 21 where our bodies now resemble the Tabernacle (temple) of God wherein He dwells, just as the temple is a depiction of Yeshua’s body (John 2:19-21). Yeshua also stated that He is the Way (Outer courts), the Truth (Holy place) and the life (Holy of Holies) (John 14:6). This pattern should be the standard path of every new believer who wants to draw closer to God, which is depicted in this video.
