Course Duration
Target group: AARTO Training Centre offers a facilitated one-day in-person training workshop on the implications of the AARTO Act for business owners, fleet managers, fleet operators, logistics managers, HR professionals, employees, vehicle operators, drivers, legal and compliance officers and all road users.
Aim: The training program provides easy and accessible guidance to comply with the Act in the workplace and guidance to all road users.

Curriculum Overview
AARTO Training Centre (Pty)(Ltd) offers specialized training on the AARTO Act. The training courses are facilitated by experienced training facilitators presenting workshops and in-person training regarding the AARTO Act.
A one-day in-person workshop introduces the AARTO Act, general principles, application of the AARTO Act adjudication process, and the points-demerit system to various role players in each company, business, partnership, and to the individual road-user.
Content
The workshop focuses on:
• The AARTO process and the points demerit system.
• Implications for fleet management, drivers, and all road users.
• Duties of the business owner as a proxy and consequences of failure to comply with the requirements of the Act and failure to nominate the driver of the vehicle.
• Advice to businesses regarding the practical implementation of fleet management and drivers.
Session Breakdown
1. Introduction: Understand the AARTO Act, new rules, administrative law application, differences between Criminal Procedure and AARTO processes.
2. Traffic violations: Distinguish between traffic violation, charges, infringements, and offences.
3. The AARTO Process: Know the AARTO processes, stages, service of notices, options upon receipt of infringement notices, courtesy letters, and enforcement orders.
4. The points-demerit system: Apply the points-demerit system, maximum demerit points, suspension/cancellation of licences, rehabilitation programmes.
5. Business Vehicles: Evaluate business vehicles, nominated proxies, duties of proxies, fleet owners, operators.
6. The Road Traffic Infringement Authority (RTIA): Describe the role and objectives of RTIA and the AARTO Appeals Tribunal.
7. Practical Activities: Evaluate practical scenario-based activities.
