Sometimes the best way to make progress is to step away from the everyday.

This week, our postgraduate students are spending time at a TSB Writing Retreat, a space to focus on their research, work through challenges with the support of experienced academics and facilitators, and simply dedicate uninterrupted time to writing.

This morning began with a hike, offering a chance to clear the mind before settling into a day of writing, discussion and collaboration.

Research can often feel like a solitary journey, which is why creating spaces like these matters. It's a reminder that academic success isn't just about the final thesis. It's also about having the right support, the right environment, and the time to think, write and grow.

What does leading for impact look like in practice? It should be applied, experienced and translated into real-world opportunities.

Through the Tshwane University of Technology - Centre of Entrepreneurship Development, we create platforms that bridge the gap between education and enterprise, empowering entrepreneurs to connect, collaborate and grow.

The Tshwane Business Connect Event is one such initiative. Through structured matchmaking sessions, participating MSMEs engaged directly with private sector organisations, procurement representatives and potential strategic partners.

These conversations provided valuable insights into procurement processes, strengthened business readiness and opened doors to future supplier, service-provider and partnership opportunities.
