As the year 2026 starts the applications for admission at South African universities far outnumber the available places in all universities by 10x. This means that only high performas with a number of distinctions will make it in.

Those who did well but have do not average above level 6 do not stand a chance. They will have to either improve their results or settle for colleges. The lesson here then is that learners should start preparing early on for university admission.

As a tutoring company, our experience is that preparation for university should start in grade 7 or senior phase where we build the base that the FET phase which culminates in Grade 12. When the learner exits seniour phase s/he should exit with exceptional results. With this FET becomes a ln easy journey whether at a college or at a secondary or high school if university is the goal.
