The IMC called an urgent meeting today to discuss the returning of students to their relevant residence and resumption of academic activities on the 3rd of August 2020.
Returning of students to the residences
The university conducted the covid-19 risk assessment regarding the safety of the returning students in residences and in classes. It has been determined that the risk is very high for students to go back to residences and having contact classes. The university decided to postpone the returning of students to the residences that was supposed to resume on the 3rd of August 2020. Gauteng has been identified as ithe HotSpot of the covid-19 which put the lives of students in danger because most campuses are based that side.
Multimodal teaching and learning
Multimodal teaching and learning has been paused with immediate effect due to the fact that most students are at a disadvantage with poor connectivity and lack of required electronic gadgets.
This means no tests and assignments will be submitted as yet.
Covid-19 study pack.
The university is almost done with packaging the study materials. The address students registered in the survey, will be used to deliver the study pack.
Academic calendar
The current academic plan/calendar will be reviewed.
NSFAS
Allowances Will continue being disbursed to students until the director of NSFAS decides otherwise.
The compiled report of covid-19 quick risk assessment will follow.
The university will also issue it's communique.
