ULSA STATEMENT: DEFENDING STUDENT DEMOCRACY AND CALL TO VOTE

The attempt to remove ULSA from the ballot in the upcoming UNISA SRC elections has failed. The matter was struck off the roll due to lack of urgency and jurisdictional defects, including approaching the wrong forum. This confirms that the elections will proceed as scheduled from tomorrow. ULSA has successfully opposed this application, defending not only its own participation, but the democratic rights of all law students to choose their representatives freely.

This outcome is not just procedural, it is a principled stand against exclusion, manipulation, and abuse of legal processes for narrow political ends.

We therefore call on all law students to rise to this moment. From tomorrow until Friday, go out in your numbers and vote for ULSA. Defend your voice. Defend your movement. Defend the future of law students at UNISA.
