TUTSAICE Student Chapter | Roadlab Site Visit

Spent the day at Roadlab in Germiston with the TUTSAICE Student Chapter seeing how quality assurance actually happens on the ground.

Roadlab’s work is driven by SANAS accreditation, so every test and calibration has to meet strict national and international standards. That emphasis on competency and accountability made one thing clear: in civil engineering, precision isn’t extra—it’s the baseline.

We got hands-on with a vernier caliper calibration exercise, and it drove home why small details matter. If the measurement is off, the whole test is off.

Thanks to the Roadlab team for giving us a real look into industry practice. This is why site visits matter.
