Learning anatomy is easy when you're a walking text book.
We had fun while learning about the human skeleton.
There were giggles when the markers tickled as I wrote the names of each bone in its place on our bodies.
There were even more giggles when we got some funny looks when we had to make an unplanned trip to the store. 😂
The pronunciation and their associations had me in stitches.
We'll have to do a few more of these scribbly sessions before all those tongue twister names will stick, but this made for a beautiful memory and a good anatomy foundation.
I'll send out a skeleton diagram to work from on our newsletter next week. If you haven't signed up for it yet, here's the link. https://dirt-dancin-mama.ck.page/99c1b6bea4

Kieswetter Klaskamer had a post a while ago about the funny and interesting positions children "sit" in when they learn.
I captured these funny ones of my own 3 monsters yesterday.
I've given up trying to correct sitting positions. If you're comfortable enough in a position to learn, I will turn a blind eye.
Leah's chair broke and she didn't want me to replace it. The empty washing basket is the perfect size for her to fit under her table when storing it, low enough for her to sit on and the "seat" is big enough to fit both our butts when I sit behind her to help with work.
Yes, homeschoolers are weird and we love it!😂

Blending colours was so much fun!
Instead of simply learning primary and secondary colours off a sheet, we painted and blended it ourselves.
Our Colour Wheels came in handy as we explored our garden afterwards, pointing out the different colours and identifying each as primary or secondary.
Quwin learnt about wavelengths and that the visible colour spectrum we see is simply a range of wavelengthts measured in Nanometers.

Don't fight it when you can use it!
My children have very limited access to screen time during the week and then a set amount of time over the weekend.
Each to their own, but I've seen the creativity that sprouts from their little brains when boredom hits and there's no option of a screen to pass the time.
That said, we do use screens to support our lessons, enhance our skills and do research on topics of interests. There's just no lying around on YouTube or Netflix for hours on end.
One channel I absolutely LOVE and recommend to anyone who has toddlers or young learners is Numberblocks. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCPlwvN0w4qFSP1FllALB92w
About a year ago Nathan discovered this channel along with Colourblocks and Alphablocks. It not only unlocked a love for Mathematics for him, but it also taught him how to solve multiplication problems in his head. Quwin at the time hated learning his multiplication tables and after his little brother matched him sum for sum in a Math challenge, he also turned to Numberblocks to improve his skills.
Now it is Leah's turn. While the boys are brushing up on their number knowledge at the start of the year, she's learning about skip counting and the first few times tables.
Are there educational channels or sites that you love using? Please share with us in the comments.
