We are proud to recognise two engaged scholarship projects in the Department of Psychology, honoured in 2025 for their commitment to justice, inclusion, and meaningful societal impact. The African LGBTQIA+ Human Rights Project received the International Council of Psychologists International Human Rights Award, acknowledging over a decade of advancing the human rights and psychosocial wellbeing of LGBTQIA+ communities across South Africa and the African continent. The Inside-Out Outside-In South African Corrections Project was also recognised as Best Engaged Scholarship Team at UNISA’s Institutional Research, Teaching, and Engaged Scholarship Excellence Awards. Together, these honours affirm the power of engaged scholarship to connect academic knowledge with communities and transformative practice.
