FACULTY'S OP FEEDLOT CHALLENGE ONGOING DESPITE COVID-19 CHALLENGES
The Faculty's annual Onderstepoort Feedlot Challenge is still going strong in 2021 despite COVID-19 challenges. The purpose of the challenge is to get fifth-year veterinary students interested in and informed about production animals and systems. This year is the 13th year that the Department of Production Animal Studies at the Faculty of Veterinary Science hosts its popular challenge.
The format for this year's challenge has been adapted to comply with COVID-19 regulations and even the simulated auction where the students buy the cattle for the challenge was only attended by a certain number of people.
Despite all this the eight student groups competing in the challenge are clearly motivated and in good spirits. The successful completion of the Feedlot Challenge, which ends in early June, is quite important since it carries 40% of the year mark for the module RUM 511.

And the results are in ๐
We weigh our cattle every few weeks to see how the gains are going ๐ช๐ฝ and the biggest gainer over all since the last weighing was this handsome man over here, 315 ๐
And the prize for the ladies goes to 301... 301 is number 1 ๐ (sorry, I had to ๐คญ)
Keep an eye out to see who will weigh in first next at the next one ๐๐

This is definitely one of the favourites, he came to us as a Fluffy baby, may or may not have been given about 5 different names ๐ ( 'tgetattached) and is now flexing them gains for the camera ๐๐ธ
We cannot believe time is flying so fast ๐ข but our cattle are looking GOOD, if we may say so ourselves ๐
