Recently, South Africa's higher education sector has been shaken by news regarding Educor and its four affiliated college networks facing deregistration locally.

The affected colleges include City Varsity, Damelin, Icesa City Campus, and Lyceum College. This development has left numerous students uncertain about their academic futures. While the government has reassured students that they won't be abandoned, there are lingering uncertainties. Minister of Higher Education Dr. Blade Nzimande addressed these concerns in a press briefing, outlining the deregistration process and its implications for current and former students. He affirmed that qualifications earned during the registration and phase-out periods will remain valid and acknowledged. Dr. Nzimande emphasized that the responsibility still lies with the Educor colleges to confer qualifications to students during these periods.
