World Environment Day

Although we celebrate our beautiful surroundings every day, today we made a special effort to remind ourselves and the children of the privilege we have in experiencing nature first hand every day.

We also initiated a special pledge🌿

As Maria Montessori said, "The land is where our roots are. The children must be taught to feel and live in harmony with the Earth."

Past and Present

In her book, The Absorbent Mind, Maria Montessori (1870 - 1952) describes the connection between love and work by quoting Kahlil Gibran. “Work is love made visible.”

In Education and Peace, she writes, “Love of the environment inspires man to learn, to study, to work…which in turn leads to production.”

Today, almost 100 years later, renown psychologist and author @‌JonathanHaidt (in The Happiness Hypothesis) says, “Love and work are to people what water and sunshine are to plants.”

We believe that if give children purposeful work, they will love what they do. Learning then becomes a joy.
