A huge thank you to Laetitia Velleman for bringing her wisdom, insight and beautiful energy to this experience. It was such a joy creating this space together. 🌸

There was something really special about seeing women arrive carrying the busyness of life… and leave a little lighter, calmer and more connected to themselves.

This is definitely not the last Calm & Create morning we'll be sharing. 😉

They arrived a little anxious. A little unsure.
Most had never painted a portrait before.

And they left with happy hearts, relaxed souls, a feeling of being truly seen… and their very own whimsical Mona Lisa. 🎨✨

For one day, there was no pressure to perform or be perfect.
Just permission to play, explore, be curious and create. 💕

And perhaps that’s the real magic of art. 🌸

Which one speaks to your heart? 🌿

Some paintings leave your studio... but never quite leave your heart. ✨
A little while ago, I had the incredible honour of painting this wedding portrait for two beautiful souls I recently met.

It was a surprise birthday gift from Shannan to Michael, which he received on 18 July.

As I spent countless hours with them in my studio, something beautiful happened. Their story slowly unfolded beneath my paintbrush. Every layer of bushstroke and colour revealed another piece of who they are together.

It isn't often that you meet people who touch your heart so deeply that you struggle to explain why. Some people simply carry a quiet kindness, a warmth that fills a room, and a love that feels beautifully genuine. Shannan and Michael are those kinds of people.

Every element in this painting was chosen with intention.

🦁 The lions represent Michael's spirit animals—symbols of courage, quiet strength, protection and unwavering devotion to those he loves. The lion and lioness together remind us that true strength is found not only in power, but in partnership.

🌿 The hummingbirds carry a different kind of magic. They remind us to savour life's sweetest moments, to find joy in the present, and to appreciate the beauty that often passes by in the blink of an eye. Across many cultures, they are also seen as messengers of hope, resilience and enduring love.

Set against an African sunset, this painting became more than a wedding portrait. It became a celebration of love, home, belonging and the wild beauty of a shared journey.

Thank you, Shannan and Michael, for trusting me with something so deeply personal. It was an honour to tell a small part of your story through paint.
