GRADE 12!!!
RATE OF REACTION
*Factors that affect the rate
-surface area
-catalyst
-temperature
-consetration
"Crack Chemistry To Succed"
Lechatlier principle it state that if the stress is applied to the chemical equilibrium the equilibrium will shift down as to relief the stress.
*The only factor tha affect equilibrium is temperature
1. An increase in concentration on one side of
an equation favors or drives the reaction to the
opposite side. adding reactants favors products
adding products favors reactants
2. An increase in temperature favors or drives
an endothermic reaction forward to products. 3. An increase in temperature drives an
exothermic reaction backwards to reactants.
4. An increase in pressure drives a reaction
toward the side with fewer molecules (moles)
of gas. Increased pressure "forces" the reaction
into a smaller volume. The gas volume is smaller with fewer gas molecules.
5. Adding a catalyst does not alter the relative
amounts of reactant and product. Forward
reaction happens more easily and so does the
reverse reaction. Equilibrium is only reached
faster.

*CHEMICAL EQUILIBRIUM*
_Complied By_
*Mahlatse The Best Tutor*
*Reverse chamical reactions*:
The ability of reactants to produce products and the products are able to change back into reactants
*Closed System*:A system that is not sealed from the outside influences during a chamical reaction thus the reactants and products are able to escape
*Closed System*:A system that is sealed from the outside influences during chemical reaction thus that the reactants and products are unable to escape
*DYNAMIC CHAMICAL EQUILIBRIUM*
In a closed system if the *rate* of the forward reaction is equal to the rate of reverse reaction then the state of dynamic equilibrium is existing within that system
*NOTE!*
```When a system is in dynamic chamical equilibrium, it doesn't mean that the reaction is stopped .It just mean tha both reactions are occurring simultaneously.The concentration of the reactants and products, will however remain constant```
*Factors which influence a chamical equilibrium*
*```LE CHATERLIER'S PRINCIPLE```*
> In a closed system of a dynamic equilibrium is subjected to a disturbance then the equilibrium will s**t in a way to cancel the disturbance and form a new equilibrium
*Disturbances*
> Changing the concentration of reactants and products
> Changing the temperature of the system
> Changing the pressure of the system [Applies gases only]
*Answering Le Chaterlier's Principle Questions*
1.Identify the disturbance
2.How do you oppose The Disturbance
3.will the forward or reverse reaction be favoured
4.what is the result.
*THE EQUILIBRIUM CONSTANT [Kc]*
> Is the ratio comparing the concentration of the products compared to concentration of reactants when the reaction has reached equilibrium
aA + bB cC + dD
*LEARN HOW TO DRAW A TABLE THAT WILL LEAD YOU TO CALCULATIONS OF Kc*
Start
Mole ratio
Used/Formed moles
Equilibrium
Concentration
The Formula
Kc=[Products]/[Reactants]
*SIGNIFICANCE OF Kc*
High Kc value-:The concentration of products are higher than the concentration of reactants
Low Kc value-:The concentration of the products are less than the concentration of the reactants
*NOTE!*
```Kc values are temperature specific and thus are always quoted for specified temperature, thus a temperature change is the only factor that will affect the Kc value.ONLY GASES AND AQUEOUS REACTANT AND PRODUCTS ARE SUBSTITUTED IN A Kc EXPRESSION```

(Summary Set For Grade 12)
PROJECTILE MOTION (VPM)
Complied By :Mahlatse The Best Tutor
*WHAT GOES UP MUST COME DOWN*
all objects are attracted to the earth with a gravitational force called *WEIGHT*
all objects will accelerate towards the earth with a constant acceleration called the *_Gravitational acceleration (g)_*
Gravitational acceleration is *ALWAYS downwards* no matter wether the object is being thrown up or falling down
*IMPORTANT:*For any object thrown up or down, the first direction is taken as positive (+)
*Check the equation of motion in your textbook and substitute (a) with (g)*
```Important facts on VPM```
At the greatest height of the upward motion, *velocity of the object is ZERO*
The object will take the *same time* to reach it's greatest height form point of upward launch as the time taken to fall back to point of launch
*( Time Up = Time Down )*
Can have motion described by a single set of equations of motion for the upward and downward motion
You must be able to :-
1.Explain what is meant by a *projectile*, *Free Fall* and *Terminal velocity*
*Terminal Velocity - air resistance (or air friction) have the same magnitude as the weight of the object*
*Projectile - an object upon which the only force acting is the force of gravity*
2.Use equations of motion to determine *Position, velocity and displacement* of a projectile at any given time
3.Learn how to sketch position versus time *(x vs t)*, velocity versus time *(v vs t)* and acceleration versus time *(a vs t)* graphs for :-
*-a free falling object*
*-an object thrown vertically down*
*-an object thrown vertically up*
*Bouncing objects*```(restricted to balls)```
For a given *X vs T* or *A vs T* graph, determine:
*-Position*
*-Displacement*
*-Velocity or acceleration at any time t*
For a given *X vs T* or *A vs T* graph, describe the motion of the object
*-Bouncing*
*-Thrown vertically up*
*-Thrown vertically down*
```You must also note this```
1.Provided there is no friction, the total enery of a free falling body remains constant
2.Concepts :Acceleration, velocity, change in position are all vectors *(Direction is indicated)*
3. *_DROP_* means the initial velocity is *ZERO*
4. *in graphs the acceleration is uniform*
*REMEMBER TO CHOOSE DIRECTION EVERY TIME YOU SOLVE 2D VPM PROBLEMS*

CHEMISTRY
-the study of hydro carbon compound
*Homolegeous series- A series of hydro carbon compound which is represented by one general formula
*catenation-is when the element bond with its self
*fuctional group
-the bond,atom,group of an atoms,that determine the physical property of a compound
1carbon-meth
2carbon-eth
3carbon-prop
4carbon-but
5carbon-pent
6carbon-hex
7carbon-hept
8carbon oct

-it is saturated hydro carbon compound because it have a single bond between two carbon
-they contain single bond between carbons
-general formula is CnH2n+2

-unsaturated hydro carbn compound
-double bond between carbon
-more reactive
-general formula is CnH2n-2
